The Travelling Gentleman - Stefano Ricci - Winter 2019 Collection

01:07
“The Traveling Gentleman” Following our guided tours of the Stefano Ricci’s headquarter to see their 100% made in Italy products and the extraordinary 18th century silk mill L’Antico Setificio Fiorentino in Florence, which still uses a warping machine based on a design by Leonardo Da Vinci in Florence, we were once again taken on another memorable journey at one of the most spectacular railway stations in Europe: the Stazione Centrale of Milan. This season, Stefano Ricci’s collection was presented on an iconic Italian train from the 1930s. Needless to mention, the whole set was at perfect coherence with the concept of the winter collection 2019: “The Traveling Gentleman”. At the occasion of the new collection’s presentation, Stefano Ricci simultaneously celebrated the label’s 46 years and gifted us with a series of beautifully concocted films under Filippo Ricci’s creative Direction, which was followed by the arrival of the models traveling onboard of a moving chef d’oeuvre. The concept of “The Traveling Gentleman” should resonate well with whom who is a seeker, a conqueror, a gentleman with a one-of-a-kind sense of style who goes out into the world for the quest of the past, present and the future. Speaking of conquest, The Florentine luxury menswear STEFANO RICCI continues to expand globally with openings in Hong Kong, Miami Design District, Phnom Penh in Cambodia, the fourth store in Dubai, the third store in Macau, in Mumbai, India at the iconic Taj Mahal Hotel, not to mention its recent placement within Harrods. Following that list, will be the addition of stores in Manila, Sochi and Singapore in the first half of next year. Ambitious, some of you may say. Must I remind you how it all started with Stefano Ricci? In 1972 a young Stefano Ricci presented a small collection of ties at the famous Pitti Immagine Uomo fashion exhibition in Florence. Undeniably distinctive from the other presented brands, Stefano Ricci’s innovative, yet very classic nature of his patterns had him move from being an accessory designer to a worldwide respected luxury menswear designer with hand cut, close control on manufacturing, top quality materials and exclusive designs priorities. From neckties in 1972 to a 150 million turnover in 2018, other than the word ambitious, I would say inspiring as well. From his speech, CEO Niccolò Ricci emphasized on the importance of the word “DYNAMISM”. Made in Florence - Stefano Ricci

01:07
“Made in Florence” Following our guided tours of the Stefano Ricci’s headquarter to see their 100% made in Italy products and the extraordinary 18th century silk mill L’Antico Setificio Fiorentino in Florence, which still uses a warping machine based on a design by Leonardo Da Vinci in Florence, we were once again taken on another memorable journey at one of the most spectacular railway stations in Europe: the Stazione Centrale of Milan. With that, came a new concept to revisit the stores’ esthetic and to amp up Stefano Ricci’s new online presence in the many international markets in which the brand didn’t have a strong presence if any at all previously, WeChat being one of them. The 2019 Winter Collection will be presented at the next edition of Pitti Uomo (8-11 of January) in Florence where it all started. “ Visit: https://NewYorkStyleGuide.com for more Credits: Men’s Fashion Editor / Direction & Edit: BADARA NDIAYE: @Badaraofficial Photography / Videography: ANDREA FLORIO : @andreafloriophoto

Simple Shoes

01:32
Simple was created in 1991 by Eric Meyer. It blended '60s and '70s cultural influences with its California-roots and stirred the minds of a generation. The brand was inspired by surfing, skateboarding, modern architecture, old bicycles, classic VWs, vintage scooters, and eastern philosophy. The character of the brand didn't come from thin air. It was a distillation, an appropriation, a curated blend of simple ideas. Simple drew from the resources that surround us. The name needed to be short and easy to remember. It had to roll off the tongue and describe what the product would look like. “Simple." The first samples were finished by mid January, 1992. Unlike Simple's contemporaries, the design was not focused on hyped up technology. Simple was the opposite; it was a reaction. Simple fit the new decade and tastefully delivered sport inspired casual footwear. The brand began with the Barney, a desert boot on a comfy, casual, skate-able athletic sole, and then expanded into retro sneakers, clogs, and work boots. Similar styles are all widely available now, but, in the early 1990s, Simple was at the forefront, creating its own footwear category. The Barney, O.S. Sneaker, and the Mesa Clog defined the brand and are being brought back to their loyal fan base. Simple was purchased by a large footwear company and closed its doors in 2010. The brand laid dormant until a passionate group of footwear people, including early Simple designers, brought it back to life in October of 2014. We are busy working to bring back product from the past and to build relevant product for the future while, as always, keeping it Simple.

Jyu Ri Ri Autumn Winter 2019 at New York Fashion Week

02:04
Jyuri Lee was born as the first child among three of a Korean conservative family. Her parents belong to the poor baby boomer generation right after Korean Civil War. Her father, who was the seventh son of an extremely poor family, put job security as the top priority from a very early age. He worked for the government, and told Jyuri to do the same. As an obedient and long-suffering first child, she followed her father's advice to the letter, working for the government. She majored in English education at Seoul National University, and taught at a public middle school for years. One day, she realized she had to break this chain of delayed dreams; she was compelled to pursue her own passion. She resigned from her secure post, and flew to New York in 2014, to pursue her passion in Parsons School of Design: she was 31 when she started her first fashion sketch. Since fashion was her long-delayed dream, she was ready to give her 100%. This passion led her to win competitions like Eyes on Talent and Graduate Fashion Week. In her junior year, she was lucky to have her works featured in different magazines including Vogue Italia, Kodd magazine and Huf magazine. And as soon as she graduated she had an opportunity to showcase her collection in NYFW. In September, 2018, she took part in the NYFW, at HFW Season 5. Jyuri Lee collections are often inspired by strong women: who are independent, knows what she wants in life, fights for it, and achieves it against all odds.

Returning host, Kelly Clarkson, then gave a hilarious opening monologue, filled with special surprise guests and of course a song or two. Perhaps the most memorable was Madonna’s breathtaking performance with Maluma of their new song “Medellin,” with augmented reality technology. ICON Award recipient Mariah Carey, showed off her pipes in a medley of her greatest hits, including “A No No,” “Always Be My Baby,” “Emotions,” “We Belong Together,” and “Hero.” Host Kelly Clarkson took the stage later in the night again, to sing her latest song “Broken and Beautiful” from the new family movie “Ugly Dolls.” Additional performances throughout the night included dance-inducing performances from K-Pop sensation BTS with Halsey, Ariana Grande, Ciara, and The Jonas Brothers, and soulful songs from Khalid Dan + Shay with Tori Kelly and Lauren Daigle.
