Tokyo Snow 2014 - 雪の東京

03:06
Harajuku & Shibuya blanketed in white during the major snowstorm that hit Tokyo on February 8, 2014. We wandered around Shibuya and Harajuku during the snow storm and shot some video to show you how pretty Tokyo looks after a snowfall. Many of the smaller shops in Harajuku were closed and there weren't too many people on the streets of Harajuku (especially for a Saturday). We haven't seen this few people on Takeshita Dori and Cat Street in a long time! We also shot Hachiko, Shibuya 109, LaForet Harajuku, Kiddyland, Omotesando Hills, and other landmarks to show you what they look like covered in snow. According to the Japanese news, this is the most snow that Tokyo has received in over 10 years (maybe longer, depending on which weather channel you watch). Please subscribe to the Tokyo Fashion YouTube Channel if you want to see lots of Japanese fashion videos (and the occasional snow update - haha).

Harajuku Decora Fashion - デコラファッション

01:57
Kawaii and colorful fashion at a Japanese decora meetup in Tokyo's famous Harajuku fashion district. Decora is a Japanese subculture that revolves around colorful outfits with lots of cute accessories - especially brightly colored plastic hair clips. Decora was extremely popular in Harajuku in the early 2000s, with hundreds of decora gathering on the Jingu Bashi bridge every weekend to hang out with their friends, trade fashion tips, and have fun. Today's Japanese decora - while not in the numbers they once were - still carry on the tradition of bright colorful clothing and lots of accessories, while adding their own personal touches to the style. Recently, we've also seen an increase in people mixing decora with shironuri, which you can see in a couple of these looks. This Harajuku decora meetup was a chance for several of Tokyo's decora to get together and have fun while spending the day wandering around Harajuku together. The day ended with ice cream! We will be posting street snaps of each of the decora outfits from the decora meetup - please check back soon for the link. The organizer of this Harajuku Decora meetup was: https://twitter.com/0326decora We thank her for inviting us to film the event - and a big thank you to all of the decora who we met! Halloween in Japan - Tokyo Costume Street Party 渋谷 ハロウィン

09:15
Amazing costumes, tens of thousands of people, and lots of fun at Tokyo's massive 2014 Halloween costume street party! Happy Halloween from Japan everyone!!! Please share this video with your friends if you like it! Halloween has exploded in popularity in Japan in the last few years, and this year's Shibuya Halloween street party was the biggest and most insane that we've ever seen. The entire areas around Shibuya Station, the Shibuya Scramble, and Shibuya Center Street were packed with people in costumes from afternoon until well after midnight. We spent all day and night shooting to bring the fun directly to you! Japan is the birthplace of cosplay, so people here go all out when it comes to dressing up for Halloween. The costumes ranged from lots of zombie Disney characters (Snow White was especially popular) to horror movie and video game icons (Silent Hill nurses galore), to full on Comiket-style cosplay groups straight out of anime and manga (lots of One Piece) to random funny stuff (a Facebook Like, The Mona Lisa). In addition to this video, we'll be posting hundreds of Japanese Halloween costume pictures on Flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tokyofashion/sets/72157648649576407/ If you are a fan of costumes, cosplay, or just dressing up, please consider visiting Japan during the Halloween season. You won't find anywhere in the world where people have more fun with this holiday! All of the clips in our 2014 Japan Halloween costume street party video were shot on the streets of Tokyo's Shibuya neighborhood either Halloween afternoon/night or the weekend before Halloween. We want to send out a big big "Thank You!" to every single person who allowed us to video them, and also to all of the fun friendly people we met on the street during the Halloween season in Tokyo. 04:31
Elleanor hunts for the perfect summer yukata from Tsukikageya - a designer that mixes Japanese tradition with modern street style. "Elleanor's Tokyo" is a weekly video blog by Elleanor - a 19-year-old English-speaking Japanese girl who spends most of her life in Harajuku. It's summer time in Tokyo and that means that everyone needs a yukata - the perfect Japanese fashion for hanabi (fireworks festivals). Elleanor has been dreaming of buying a yukata from the famous Tokyo brand Tsukikageya since she was in high school. This summer, her dreams will finally come true - and she brought along a camera or two so that she can share the experience with you. Tsukikageya is the brainchild of Japanese kimono/yukata maker Natsuki Shigeta. The brand makes extremely high quality yukata in the Japanese tradition. The twist is that their patterns are modern - from kawaii to punk rock and beyond. For many summers, Tsukikageya has had a popup shop at the entrance to the LaForet Harajuku department store. Elleanor visited the Tsukikageya popup shop and searched for her perfect yukata - and obi. For more information on Tsukikageya, and to see many of their amazing yukata designs from recent years, check their official website: http://www.tsukikageya.com And their online shop: http://home.a07.itscom.net/kageya2/ We want to thank Natsuki Shigeta and everyone at Tsukikageya for allowing us to film their beautiful yukata. 15 Amazing Kimono Inspired Japanese Street Fashion Looks

03:45
Traditional Japanese kimono gets remixed with kawaii, cyber, goth, and other subcultures on the streets of Tokyo. Kimono - which Japanese people have been wearing for over one thousand years - are Japan's most iconic fashion item. Japanese people still wear kimono on special occasions and holidays, but traditional kimono (except for summer yukata) are worn less now than they were several generations ago. In Japan today, other types of fashion may have replaced kimono as daily wear, but creative young Japanese people are finding ways to incorporate elements of the kimono into modern street styles. From gothic kimono to cyber/rave style, to kimono mixed with super kawaii accessories, to the adoption of the kimono by many in Japan's shironuri (white makeup) subculture, kimono remains a strong influence in the modern Japanese fashion scene. We love kimono and we wanted to share fifteen of the amazing kimono-inspired styles that we have seen on the streets of Harajuku over the last few years. Please enjoy these looks and let us know what you think of young people taking elements of kimono and remixing it with their own unique styles. Fangophilia - Japanese Custom-Molded Body Jewelry - Behind the Scenes

07:56
Behind-the-scenes at the shooting of Fangophilia's first lookbook, featuring an interview with brand founder Taro Hanabusa! Mixing influences from body modification culture and self-taught silversmithing, the founder of Japanese accessory brand Fangophilia describes his mission as "creating body extension accessories through careful molding to the individual parts of the human body". Taro Hanabusa is a licensed dentist working in Tokyo. The Fangophilia project began when Hanabusa decided to put his dental skills to work creating custom teeth accessories - initially, silver fangs. Things quickly expanded as he explored the possibilities of jewelry custom molded to different parts of the human body. In 2012, Fangophilia was "officially" launched. Since then, the brand has caught on in Tokyo's fashion scene, carried by arguably the hippest and most influential streetwear boutique in all of Asia, Dog Harajuku (where Lady Gaga, 2NE1, and many other celebrities look for creative inspiration). 15 Dip Dye Hair Looks from Japan

02:49
Find out how girls are wearing colorful dip dye hair on the streets of Japan! Dip dye hair is making a comeback in Japan this summer. We selected fifteen dip dye looks directly from the streets of Tokyo to show you hairstyles and fashion that Japanese girls are wearing with their dip dye. About Dip Dye Hair Dip Dye is a process where you dip the ends of your hair in various colors of dye (just like the name suggests). It's closely associated with ombre hair. Dip Dye was popular with "scene" girls a long time ago, and it exploded on Tumblr somewhere around 2011-2012. Dip Dye was a trend in Japanese street fashion in 2012, but then died down quite a bit by late 2013. We are seeing a renewed interest in Dip Dye from the next generation of street fashion kids in Harajuku and other areas of Tokyo. Please let us know your thoughts on dip dye. Also, let us know what types of Japanese fashion and beauty videos you'd like to see in the future!
