Japan has unveiled the latest in concept hairstyles, featuring everything from light bulbs, broken glass pieces and bottles at the 2013 Splash International this week in Tokyo. Over the course of two and a half hours, models showcased a range of outlandish hairstyles that took to the stage. In one part of the show, 11 stylists were given just 25 minutes to style the models hair from scratch to runway-action. This event started in 1998 and has been happening yearly, with the exception of 2011, when Japan suffered its largest earthquake and massive tsunami. Alongside New York and London, Japan leads the world in hair fashion. With almost half a million hair stylists snipping and coloring in more than 200,000 Japanese hair salons, its easy to see why they're at the top. They are starting to ply their trade in China as well, giving young Chinese a trendy Tokyo style. But be prepared to pay top dollar. http://www.youtube.com/user/NTDentertainment - CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE!!! http://www.facebook.com/NTertainmentTv - LIKE US ON FB!! https://twitter.com/followers - FOLLOW US ON TWITTER!

Takeshita Street From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Takeshita Street (竹下通り Takeshita-dōri) is a pedestrian-only street lined with fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants in Harajuku in Tokyo, Japan. Stores on Takeshita Street include major chains such as The Body Shop, McDonald's and 7-Eleven, but most of the businesses are small independent shops that carry an array of styles. The shops on this street are often a bellwether for broader fads, and some are known as "antenna shops," which manufacturers seed with prototypes for test-marketing. Takeshita Street was a reliable place to go and purchase fake Japanese and American street brand goods from the early 1990s to 2004. Since 2004, a stronger metropolitan government stance on counterfeit merchandise has led to a decrease of such items being available to the public. Located directly across from the exit of JR East's Harajuku Station, Takeshita Street is very popular with young teenagers, particularly those visiting Tokyo on school trips, or local young people shopping for small "cute" goods at weekends. Harajuku From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Harajuku (原宿 "meadow lodging") About this sound listen (help·info) is the common name for the area around Harajuku Station on the Yamanote Line in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Japan. Every Sunday, young people dressed in a variety of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, and decora, as well as cosplayers spend the day in Harajuku socializing. The fashion styles of these youths rarely conform to one particular style and are usually a mesh of many. Most young people gather on Jingu Bridge, which is a pedestrian bridge that connects Harajuku to the neighboring Meiji Shrine area. Harajuku is also a fashion capital of the world, renowned for its unique street fashion.Harajuku street style is promoted in Japanese and international publications such as Kera, Tune, Gothic & Lolita Bible and Fruits. Many prominent designers and fashion ideas have sprung from Harajuku and incorporated themselves into other fashions throughout the world. Harajuku is also a large shopping district that includes international brands, its own brands, and shops selling clothes young people can afford.

Decora tutorial showing how Harajuku girls use kawaii hair clips - by Japanese model Haruka Kurebayashi! Please subscribe to our YouTube channel and watch all of our upcoming "My Kawaii Style" Japanese makeup and beauty tutorials. Japanese decora fashion is one of the most famous Harajuku street styles. Going all the way back to the 1990s, decora girls have gathered in Harajuku to show off their colorful fashion and countless kawaii accessories. The definitive element of Japanese decora style is a hairstyle topped off with cute hair clips. In this decora tutorial, Japanese model Haruka Kurebayashi will demonstrate how she creates her own decora hairstyle look. While she isn't a full-on decora, Kurebayashi can frequently be seen around the streets of Harajuku with elements of decora style incorporated into her looks. Kurebayashi mixes and matches many different kawaii Harajuku styles into her personal fashion, and you can do the same! This is another quick and easy tutorial by Kurebayashi. The only items needed for this tutorial are hair and cute hair clips! Kurebayashi finds cute hair clips that appeal to her own sense of kawaii and she recommends that you seek out whatever clips you like based on your own personal style. If you have any clips that you especially like or you want to recommend some kawaii hair clips to others, feel free to leave a comment on the video! Also, please leave comments to let us know what you think of the tutorial, and to let us know what Japanese makeup tutorials or beauty product reviews you'd like to see in the future! Tokyo Dolores is a Japanese dance and performance art group that was created to explore the deep and complex spirituality of Japanese girls - that which remains mostly unseen below the kawaii exterior that's presented to the world. During their "Akazukin - Red Riding Hood" performance, we were lucky to do this interview with the group. Tokyo Dolores founder and leader Cay Izumi is a fan of Harajuku street fashion and Japanese pop culture. She's has modeled for Kera Magazine as well as acting in Tokyo Gore Police and several other Japanese films. Her vision for Tokyo Dolores mixes elements of Tokyo street fashion (gothic lolita styles, kawaii costumes) with Japanese pop culture (anime and manga) and traditional storytelling (fairy tales and folklore) - all fused through modern dance, pole dancing, and acrobatic. Tokyo Dolores has four full members (Cay Izumi, Aloe, Nancy & Jill), but the group also collaborates with other artists - including musicians, costume makers, visual artists, and dancers - when they stage productions. In addition to their numerous shows in Japan, Tokyo Dolores have taken their performances all over the world, including stops in Canada, American, and Europe. Please Subscribe to the TokyoFashion YouTube Channel! Thank you! Minami from Tokyo Bopper is a well-known personality around the streets of Harajuku. She used to have cult party kei style, but more recently her style has evolved a lot. Her short blonde hairstyle is one of her current trademarks. This outfit also includes a deconstructed knit top with a spiked collar, black cropped pants, and white Tokyo Bopper shoes. Minori told us that the "Boppers" she's wearing are new models.
