10 Ways to Wear Crop Tops - Tokyo Fashion
Ten ways to wear crop tops - get style inspiration directly from the streets of Tokyo! Up until a few years ago, showing midriff or belly buttons was uncommon in Japanese street fashion. That changed when a huge crop top boom hit Tokyo in the summer of 2013. Since then, crop tops have become one of the hottest summer coordinates on the streets of Japan. Crop tops are like any other fashion item: there are as many ways to wear them as there are wearers. Some girls go modest (we've even seen crop tops worn over t-shirts), others go extreme, and most fall somewhere in between. Check out these ten looks that we selected to see how some of Harajuku's famous street fashion kids are wearing crop tops. Let us know your thoughts on crop tops - and Japanese street fashion - in the comments. Also, thank you for all of the suggestions about future videos. Please keep them coming. We're keeping track of all of your suggestions and are planning many new Tokyo Fashion videos in the coming months! 15 Amazing Kimono Inspired Japanese Street Fashion Looks
Traditional Japanese kimono gets remixed with kawaii, cyber, goth, and other subcultures on the streets of Tokyo. Kimono - which Japanese people have been wearing for over one thousand years - are Japan's most iconic fashion item. Japanese people still wear kimono on special occasions and holidays, but traditional kimono (except for summer yukata) are worn less now than they were several generations ago. In Japan today, other types of fashion may have replaced kimono as daily wear, but creative young Japanese people are finding ways to incorporate elements of the kimono into modern street styles. From gothic kimono to cyber/rave style, to kimono mixed with super kawaii accessories, to the adoption of the kimono by many in Japan's shironuri (white makeup) subculture, kimono remains a strong influence in the modern Japanese fashion scene. We love kimono and we wanted to share fifteen of the amazing kimono-inspired styles that we have seen on the streets of Harajuku over the last few years. Please enjoy these looks and let us know what you think of young people taking elements of kimono and remixing it with their own unique styles. Female robot makes catwalk debut at start of Tokyo Fashion Week
(23 Mar 2009) SHOTLIST 1. Dimmed lights turn up as HRP-4C robot walks onto catwalk, bows 2. Robot on stage, greets audience, zoom in to close-up of robot as she continues to greet audience 3. Close-up of HRP-4C's feet, pan to face 4. Models walking on catwalk at "Shinmai Creators Project" show 5. Set-up Shuji Kojita, HRP-4C robot designer, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology 6. SOUNDBITE (Japanese) Shuji Kojita, HRP-4C robot designer, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology: "We're only just at the beginning. Instead of her just acting as an MC (Master of Ceremonies), what we really want to achieve is to have her modelling clothes alongside human models. But we are still just at the starting point." 7. HRP-4C turns around and leaves stage through automatic doors, lights dim, applause 8. Models walking down catwalk STORYLINE She may not be in the same class as Kate Moss or Claudia Schiffer, but HRP-4C the walking, talking robot has made her debut on the catwalk. The new "cybernetic human" from Japan strutted her stuff at the start of Tokyo Fashion Week on Monday, almost a week after her official presentation to the international media. HRP-4C trimmed down to 43 kilogrammes (95 pounds) for the appearance, but hadn't yet cleared the safety standards required to share the catwalk with actual human models. So for now, the 158 centimetres (63.2 inch) tall black-haired robot, whose predecessor weighed 58 kilogrammes (128 pounds), simply helped open the show. The robot was developed at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, a government-backed organisation. Her designers say HRP-4C wasn't built to help with daily chores or work side by side with people - as many hope robots will be able to do in the future. Instead, she will most likely be used in amusement parks or to perform simulations of human movement, as an exercise instructor for example. HRP-4C has been designed to look like an average Japanese woman - albeit with a futuristic silver-and-black body. Tokyo Fashion Week, which she helped launch on Monday, features fashion for the autumn-winter period from 2009 to 2010 and showcases the latest works by renowned Japanese designers. The event, which runs through Saturday at main venues in the capital's Roppongi district, includes introductions to the works of about 40 brands. Japanese Thrift Shop *Fall Fashion Haul*
OKAY. SO LIKE 90% OF MY CLOTHES COME OUT OF THE MEN'S SECTION IN JAPAN. DON'T JUDGE. It's not my fault that Japanese women's clothing usually can't fit comfortably on my enormous foreigner shoulders, is too short for my arms, and can't fit over my hips. Or is covered with some combination of lace, polka dots, and material that tears WAY too easy. I happen to like a lot of the men's styles here in Japan (especially the sweaters) and absolutely love all the items I picked out. Bring on Autumn! Everyday Makeup, Harajuku Fashion Walk & Minori w/ Rikarin
Rikarin shares a quick "Everyday Makeup" tutorial, then takes you along for a fun day in Tokyo at Harajuku Fashion Walk and a lucky meeting with Japanese shironuri artist Minori. This is episode three of "My Harajuku Life" with Rikarin. In this episode, Rikarin films a tutorial of her makeup process before heading out to meet friends - and make new ones - at the famous Harajuku Fashion Walk event organized by Junnyan in Harajuku. The weather is a little cold, so this Harajuku Fashion Walk is a little smaller than some of them, but there are still plenty of stylish people to meet and get fashion inspiration from. After Harajuku Fashion Walk, Rikarin meets Japanese shironuri artist on the street in Harajuku. You never know who you'll run into when you're walking around Harajuku - especially on the weekend! Thank you for the all of the supportive comments and suggestions on the first two episodes. Please continue to share your questions, comments, and suggestions for future episodes of "My Harajuku Life"! Follow Rikarin on social media for daily pictures and updates: https://instagram.com/rikarin_6doki/ https://twitter.com/rkninoars For information on Harajuku Fashion Walk - including the upcoming dates and more pictures: https://twitter.com/harajuku_fw https://www.instagram.com/junnyan69/ A big thank you to Junnyan, Minori, Yuka, Uri, Sasakure, Choom-chan, Cece, Maria, Mel, Hime, and everyone else who appeared in this video. We really appreciate how nice everyone was! Stay tuned for more fun from Harajuku soon! Halloween in Japan 2015 - Shibuya Costume Street Party ハロウィン 渋谷
Amazing costumes & huge crowds at the world's craziest Halloween street party - Shibuya Halloween 2015! Hundreds of thousands of Halloween revelers in scary, cute, and funny Halloween costumes flooded the streets of Tokyo's Shibuya neighborhood again this year for the world's most insane (and fun) Halloween party. The 2015 Shibuya Halloween Street Party was even bigger than last year - with more people, more costumes, and more fun! The Shibuya Halloween street party was so huge this year that the Tokyo government deployed close to 1,000 riot police to keep things under control. As usual here in Japan, the police were friendly, as were the partiers, and everything went off without any major problems. Enjoy the Halloween video and let us know which costumes were your favorite - and whether you could recognize most of them (we recognize some, but some were also a mystery to us). Happy Halloween from Japan everyone. See you Tokyo next October 31st! JAPANTRIPGUIDE「Kawaii Street Fashion on Harajuku」Shibuya-ku, Tokyo【東京都原宿】 2015.4.17
The symbol of Harajuku and birthplace of many of Japan's fashion trends, Takeshita Dori (Takeshita Street) is a narrow, roughly 400 meter long street lined by shops, boutiques, cafes and fast food outlets targeting Tokyo's teenagers. Because of the street's popularity, it becomes extremely busy and crowded on the weekends. Interesting shops and restaurants can also be found along some of the side streets.
