3 Principles to Improve Your Logo Design Process - Legibility, Hierarchy, and Contrast

06:13
Are you a graphic designer, web designer, package designer, or motion designer? Use these 3 Steps to Improve your design process: 1. Design in black and white - As we all know, Design can be frustrating, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I find it helps to focus my attention on only whats important. That's why I design in black and white. It forces me to focus on only the most important aspects of the logo: Hierarchy, Contrast and Legibility. 2. Focus on legibility - Legibility is essential but can get in the way of some really fun ideas. Sometimes In purist of a clever idea, we get carried away to the point the logo becomes hard to read. Rookie mistake. The solution? Periodically check in and ask your self (or someone else) does the logo read well? 3. Giving a good Critique is an art - There’s much more to it than simply throwing out random opinions. Whether critiquing your own work or someone else’s, it’s important to remember that a good critique follows a process. I think of it like peeling an onion: Start by simply describing what you’re seeing. Then, say 1 thing you like and 1 thing that feels kinda funny. Then, move into what isn’t working and why. Finally, suggest ways to fix it. These are 3 small things you can start doing that will improve your logo design skills. Getting better is a slow process, but these 3 things are a step in the right direction. We will have more tips for you soon. Keep learning stuff, one day you will be great! Thanks for watching. Design Theory: How To Make Dynamic Compositions

14:48
How to make your motion design frames more dimensional. Create dynamic compositions with this one trick. One tip to make your designs more impactful. One simple tip for how to make your designs, photos, and illustrations better. Blind creative director, Matthew Encina, joins Chris Do in this quick tutorial/lesson on creating more dynamic compositions. To keep things simple and clearly illustrate what I mean, I’ve put together a few greyscale examples that show how adding contrast to your frames can drastically improve your compositions and effectiveness of your storytelling. If you ever find yourself stuck with a boring composition, push the contrast in the value, weight, size, and color of your subjects. Start drastically, then pull it back. One formula I like to use often is: 1 really BIG object — usually the subject, and most important element in the frame. 1–2 medium sized objects — secondary elements to give meaning to the main object. Tons of very tiny objects — tertiary elements to give movement and additional context for the frame. What Are The Green Chemistry Principles - Design for Degradation | Chemistry for All | FuseSchool

02:07
Learn the basics about Green Chemistry - Principle 10, as a part of environmental chemistry. On a global scale, a lot of waste is produced. Unless the waste is recycled, it fills up in our landfills, destroys habitats, and will be a very serious health hazard. Imagine if one day, the waste that we produced can be naturally broken down by microbes in the environment, or dissolve into safer degradation materials. This principle explores such a concept. There is a new class of plastics known as bioplastics, which are made from natural monomers, such as cellulose and lactic acid, and can degrade, or break down, in the environment. Polylactic acid, or PLA, is an example of a bioplastic. SUBSCRIBE to the Fuse School YouTube channel for many more educational videos. What is UX Design? Defining User Experience Design & Explaining the Process

34:40
Jose and Chris explain what UX Design is by working on the redesign of The Skool's website. User Experience Design (UXD) is the process of enhancing user satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction between the user and a product or service. If you've ever been curious about UX or want to see Jose do "his UX thing" this is an episode to watch. You'll also see how we design more effective landing pages by thinking about what our "users" challenges/pain points are, and then addressing them through messaging. You should always consider... Who the Customer is. What their challenges are. How can YOU solve them? ...and confront possible user objections and questions such as... "Is this for me?" "Does it work?" "What is it exactly?" LEVEL 100 GRAPHIC DESIGNS Using Psychology?

06:08
Psychology and graphic design, in the same video? Yes that’s right, psychology actually has a very firm and crucial place within graphic design, and in todays video learn exactly why as well as how to utilise it for your designs. I am going to make more in-depth and detailed videos based around each of the 5 points in todays tutorial, so that you can better understand each one in terms of psychology and graphic design. When you understand that the designs you make are visual messages, and these messages interact with the minds of the viewers in specific ways, you can then go on and use this to your advantage. I have 5 of the most common psychological aspects of graphic design (aside from colour) and give a brief but important rundown as to why they are important for you and your graphic designs. If you do want to see more about the psychology of graphic design, make sure to let me know down below! Is it all a game? Understanding the principles of gamification

50:29
To view the paper and slides associated with this talk go to: http://www.slideshare.net/IanMcCarthy/is-it-all-a-game-understanding-the-principles-of-gamification-46886423 There is growing interest in how gamification – the application of game design principles in non-gaming contexts – can be used in business. However, academic research and management practice have paid little attention to the challenges of how to best design, implement, manage, and optimize gamification strategies. To advance understanding of gamification, this article defines what it is and explains how it is prompting managers to think about business practice in new and innovative ways. To this we draw upon the game design literature, and present a framework of three gamification principles – mechanics, dynamics, and emotions (MDE) – to explain how gamified experiences can be created. We then provide an extended illustration of gamification, and conclude with ideas for future research and application opportunities.

Inclusive Design Principles – Henny Swan : #ID24 2017

48:36
Inclusive design is about putting people first. It's about designing for the needs of people with permanent, temporary, situational, or changing disabilities – all of us really. These principles are a springboard for taking your products beyond accessibility, making them intuitive and easy to use for disabled people while showcasing beautiful design for all. They are intended for use by anyone involved in the design and development of websites and applications: designers, user experience professionals, developers, product owners, idea makers, innovators, artists and thinkers. They are intended for use in the design process to help ensure teams create products that are flexible and accommodating. Henny will walk you through the reasons why the team – Léonie Watson, Ian Pouncey, Heydon Pickering and herself – put these principles together, how they inform the design process, and share some examples and stories to illustrate each. Multi-turreted Tanks / War Thunder

09:51
Armoured vehicles of the thirties were very different from tanks of today. Engineers were still experimenting with even the most basic of design principles and tested all sorts of approaches. Many of them thought that supreme firepower was key — that's why at some point we saw the advent of multi-turreted tanks that were epic, fearsome, sometimes borderline stupid… but still kind of awesome. Today we're speaking about the most peculiar vehicles of this kind in War Thunder! When design thinking revolutionizes dermatology

04:41
Design thinking is a set of methods that can solve a problem or manage a project by applying a similar approach to that of the designer. It is an approach that is the synthesis between analytical thought and intuitive thinking. In the field of medicine and health, most traditional approaches to improving care simply do not work for one simple reason: we forget the human in the process. An alternative is to explore opportunities to improve the human experience (ie, patients, doctors, nurses, etc.) and translate ideas into tangible results for all. By using design principles, we can create services that more effectively meet the needs of patients and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the system. But to get there, you have to know how to change our point of view.

How to Make an Attractive City

14:21
We've grown good at making many things in the modern world - but strangely the art of making attractive cities has been lost. Here are some key principles for how to make attractive cities once again. If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/fwFNPV FURTHER READING “Cities are a big deal. We pretty much all have to live in them. We should try hard to get them right. So few cities are nice, very few out of many thousands are really beautiful; embarrassingly the more appealing ones tend to be old, which is weird because we’re mostly much better at making things now...” You can read more on this and other topics on our blog TheBookofLife.org at this link: https://goo.gl/6wYBGc MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/RWcyzt Watch more films on CAPITALISM in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLcapitalism Do you speak a different language to English?
