You all know that Dewloren is my favourite card. Remember that Frosty's Forest deck from a while ago? Well, I remade it so it could keep up with the meta and this is the result. I didn't plan for it to be so Mermlantean based, but it can't be helped. The main idea is still there so it works. That Nightmare Shark combo can easily cause some deadly direct attacks, as well.
Hm, the most important cards in the deck are definitely the Traps. Without them, you can't hinder the opponent's plays and they'll just run the deck over. Luckily, I run 10 traps. With 3 Decrees.
Some may be wondering why the triple Decree when I run so many Traps, and the answer is (yolo) Dewloren. Dewloren gives me the ability to, basically, turn Decree on and off. Giving me the say in when Traps are allowed to be active. It also combos nicely with Fiendish Chain and Call of the Haunted, letting them stay on the field even if the monster is destroyed. In return for having the ability to manipulate Decree, I also get full control over cards like Vanity's Emptiness. I get to Special Summon, the opponent doesn't.
Main threat against this deck is MST. It just kills whatever combos you set up, so that Prohibition in the main deck is very important. I also stuck it in the main deck as you can return it to your hand with Dewloren and then just declare another card. Example would be me declaring Battle Fader when I'm about to attack for game.
Other noticeable changes I've made include me reducing the Snowman Eaters to 1 and completely removing the Tour Guides, Mist Valley Falcons and Psychics. For multiple reasons. Snowman is just too slow. It's a great card, which is why I kept it, but other than that, it's just... eugh. Not to mention everything's a floater nowadays.
TGU. Don't get me wrong, Tour Guide is a great card, but she eats up my Normal Summon and too many cards in the deck rely on me performing successful Normal Summons. It wasn't worth it to keep TGU, so I ditched her in favour of the Mermails. Same reason applies to the Falcons.
And the Psychics. They're great and rather fast, but it was just a matter of synergy. The cards didn't go together very well.
Prior of the Ice Barrier is also somewhat more consistent now. Since Dewloren is what the deck revolves around, as long as he doesn't get banished, this deck can quite easily keep a Dewloren on the field or get it back form the Extra deck/Graveyard.
Hmm, as mentioned already, I tried to make it so that this deck could compete with the meta (and be somewhat of a budget deck so I can make it in real life) which is why cards like Vanity are included. But other cards that deal with the meta are Ancient Forest - kills Flip Effects (Shaddolls), Masked Heroes - one is a Feather Duster and the other is a Macro, Abysslinde and Abyssphere - Linde is a great floater so she provides some extra defence while Sphere can be MST bait and Eradicator Virus (in the Side deck) - summon a Downered Magician for an instant target and problems like Spellbooks and the like are as good as dead.
There are some other cards that I wanted to include but didn't have the room (such as Armades and Sea Lord's Amulet). Although, adding that Allure of Darkness into the main deck is very possible and recommended, I just didn't know what to take out and didn't want to make it a 41 card deck for aesthetic reasons. On a side note, Kaiser Colosseum is good as well.
