How to change the location of your temporary files and folders in Windows 7, Windows 8 & 8.1, and Windows 10. This will be useful if your C: drive is a smaller SSD that fills up quickly. Moving your temporary file storage to another hard drive allows more freedom for your apps to take up space and do what they need to do - this is important for programs like 7Zip and WinRAR. Combine Files with Power Query Excel 2016 (Get & Transform) - Part 3

05:27
https://www.datastrategywithjonathan.com This is Part 3/4 Part 1 The first step of any process should start with get and transform / power query. Even if you have no transformation steps this can be valuable. In Excel 2010 and Excel 2013 Power Query was an add-in. In Excel 2016 Power Query has been renamed to Get and Transform. Power Query / Get and Transform allows us to easily perform tasks that use to require Excel VBA. Learn the hidden tweak that makes Excel 2016 Power Query more flexible and gets it back to the way it use to work in Excel 2010 and Excel 2013. By linking with power query we can refresh our Excel dashboards with a click of a button and focus more on our Excel analytics. Part 2 Power Query (aka Get and Transform) is capable of merging data with database joins all without requiring a database. Power Query merge / join in most cases is the better alternative to vlookups and temporary / desktop database solutions. Vlookup calculations are the number one cause of slow performance when developing our Excel dashboards or Excel Analytics. No Excel VBA required. Part 3 Use Power Query (aka Get and Transform) to merge a whole folder of files together. Learn about what to look out for when using Power Query for this feature. This helps to support our Excel dashboard development and Excel analytics when working with lots of files. No Excel VBA required. Part 4 Data resulting from pivot tables often do not confirm to a tidy data format. We can correct for this using Power Query (aka Get and Transform). Power Query fill and Power Query Unpivot are powerful features that can save you a ton of time and allow you to do complex VBA like functions without having to write any VBA code. Easily transform your data ready for your Excel Dashboard or Excel data analytics. If you're looking to learn Advanced Excel, Excel VBA or Databases then you need to check out this video series. In this videos series, I will show you how to use Microsoft Excel in different ways that will make you far more effective at working with data. I'm also going to expand your knowledge beyond Excel and show you tips, tricks, and tools from other top data analytics tools such as R Tidyverse, Python, Data Visualisation tools such as Tableau, Qlik View, Qlik Sense, Plotly, AWS Quick Sight and others. We'll start to touch on areas such as big data, machine learning, and cloud computing and see how you can develop your data skills to get involved in these exciting areas. Excel Formulas such as vlookup and sumifs are some of the top reasons for slow spreadsheets. Alternatives for vlookup include power query (Excel 2010 and Excel 2013) which has recently been renamed to Get and Transform in Excel 2016. Large and complex vlookup formulas can be also done very efficiently in R. Using the R Tidyverse libraries you can use the join functions to merge millions of records effortlessly. In comparison to Excel Vlookup, R Tidyverse Join can pull on multiple columns all at the same time. Microsoft Excel Power Query and R Tidyverse Joins are similar to the joins that you do in databases / SQL. The benefit that they have over relational databases such as Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, etc is that they work in memory so they are actually much faster than a database. Also since they are part of an analytics tool instead of a database it is much faster and easier to build your analysis and queries all in the same tools. My very first R Tidyverse program was written to replace a Microsoft Access VBA solution which was becoming complicated and slow. Note that Microsoft Access is very limited in analytics functions and is missing things as simple as Median. Even though I had to learn R programming from scratch and completely re-write the Microsoft Access VBA solution it was so much easier and faster. It blew my mind how much easier R programming with R Tidyverse was than Microsoft Access VBA or Microsoft Excel VBA. If you have any VBA skills or are looking to learn VBA you should definitely checkout my videos on R Tidyverse. To understand why R Tidyverse is so much easier to work with than VBA. R Tidyverse is designed to work directly with your data. Note the most efficient path is to reduce the data pulled down from the database in the first place. This is referring to the amount of data you are pulling down from your data warehouse or data lake. It makes no sense to pull data from a data warehouse / data lake to pull into another database to query add joins / lookups to then pull it into Excel or other analysis tool. Often analyst build these intermediate databases because they either don’t have control of the data warehouse or they need to join additional information. All of these operations are done significantly faster in a tool such as R Tidyverse or Microsoft Excel Power Query.

How to Use SAS - Lesson 3 - Importing External Data

16:06
Bitcoin donations are welcome: 1GGV3gbJeA83FWmz9hDfPri8EuqcUtodXy Mike's SAS Tutorials Lesson 3 Update: Many users have expressed an interest in using my cheat sheet. Ultimately, my goal was to encourage users to create their own cheat sheets to learn from. However, if you'd like to use mine, it is available for purchase at the following web page using PayPal: https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?i=1077465&c=single&cl=207650 This video series is intended to help you learn how to program using SAS for your statistical needs. Lesson 3 introduces the concept of permanent or external data sets and how to import them into SAS. I provide basic methods of importing permanent data sets using the INFILE statement and the IMPORT procedure (PROC IMPORT) for non-SAS based data files. I also discuss libraries and the LIBNAME statement to import SAS data directly using the SET statement. Finally, I show how one can save a SAS data set from the data step using LIBNAMEs in the DATA step. Helpful Notes: 1. The LIBNAME statement is used to point SAS towards a specific folder on your computer. 2. The INFILE statement "reads" data into SAS if it is of a certain format (usually comma, space, or tab delimited). 3. PROC IMPORT - imports data of any of several different file formats into SAS. 4. The SET statement imports data from a library into SAS at the DATA STEP. 5. The library name in a data step's data name "writes" data from SAS into your library folder using SAS's own file format system. Today's Code: data main; input x y z; cards; 1 2 3 7 8 9 ; run; proc contents data=main; run; proc print data=main; run; /* TEMPLATED CODE: .txt file type, with or without delimiters */ data [appropriate data set name here]; infile "[your file location here, including .txt extension]" LRECL=[a logical length of your data to emcompass ENTIRE data] DLM=','; input [variable names here] ; run; data infile_main; infile "C:\My SAS Files\main.txt"; input x y z; run; proc print data=infile_main; run; /* TEMPLATED CODE: Microsoft Excel (.xls) file type */ proc import out=[your data set name here] datafile='[your file location here, including .xls extension]' dbms=excel replace; *Optional statements are below; sheet='[specify sheet to obtain]'; getnames=[yes/no - first row = variable names]; mixed=[yes/no - refers to data types, if num AND char varibles, use yes]; usedate=[yes/no - read date formatted data as date formatted SAS data]; scantime=[yes/no - read in time formatted data as long as variable is not date format]; run; proc import out=imported_excel datafile='C:\My SAS Files\main.xls' dbms=excel replace; *Optional statements are below; sheet='Sheet1'; getnames=yes; run; proc print data=imported_excel; run; libname home "C:\My SAS Files\"; data sas_format; set home.main; run; data home.sas_format; set infile_main; run;

Environment variable

57:12
Environment variables are a set of dynamic named values that can affect the way running processes will behave on a computer. They are part of the operating environment in which a process runs. For example, a running process can query the value of the TEMP environment variable to discover a suitable location to store temporary files, or the HOME or USERPROFILE variable to find the directory structure owned by the user running the process. Send datatable as parameter to stored procedure

09:27
how to pass datatable to stored procedure in c#.net pass datatable to stored procedure in sql server 2008 In this video we will discuss how to send datatable as parameter to stored procedure. This is continuation to Part 99. Please watch Part 99 from SQL Server tutorial before proceeding. In Part 99, we discussed creating a stored procedure that accepts a table as a parameter. In this video we will discuss how to pass a datatable from a web application to the SQL Server stored procedure. Here is what we want to do. 1. Design a webform to insert 5 employees at a time into the database table. 2. When "Insert Employees" button is clicked, retrieve the from data into a datatabe and then pass the datatable as a parameter to the stored procedure. 3. The stored procedure will then insert all the rows into the Employees table in the database. WebForm1.aspx.cs code using System; using System.Configuration; using System.Data; using System.Data.SqlClient; namespace Demo { public partial class WebForm1 : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {} private DataTable GetEmployeeData() { DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt.Columns.Add("Id"); dt.Columns.Add("Name"); dt.Columns.Add("Gender"); dt.Rows.Add(txtId1.Text, txtName1.Text, txtGender1.Text); dt.Rows.Add(txtId2.Text, txtName2.Text, txtGender2.Text); dt.Rows.Add(txtId3.Text, txtName3.Text, txtGender3.Text); dt.Rows.Add(txtId4.Text, txtName4.Text, txtGender4.Text); dt.Rows.Add(txtId5.Text, txtName5.Text, txtGender5.Text); return dt; } protected void btnInsert_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string cs = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["DBCS"].ConnectionString; using (SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(cs)) { SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("spInsertEmployees", con); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; SqlParameter paramTVP = new SqlParameter() { ParameterName = "@EmpTableType", Value = GetEmployeeData() }; cmd.Parameters.Add(paramTVP); con.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); con.Close(); } } protected void btnFillDummyData_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { txtId1.Text = "1"; txtId2.Text = "2"; txtId3.Text = "3"; txtId4.Text = "4"; txtId5.Text = "5"; txtName1.Text = "John"; txtName2.Text = "Mike"; txtName3.Text = "Sara"; txtName4.Text = "Pam"; txtName5.Text = "Todd"; txtGender1.Text = "Male"; txtGender2.Text = "Male"; txtGender3.Text = "Female"; txtGender4.Text = "Female"; txtGender5.Text = "Male"; } } Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/send-datatable-as-parameter-to-stored.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/send-datatable-as-parameter-to-stored_18.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists

R tutorial: connecting to a database

03:38
Learn more about connecting to databases with R: https://www.datacamp.com/courses/importing-data-in-r-part-2 Welcome to part two of importing data in R! The previous course dealt with accessing data stored in flat files or excel files. In a professional setting, you'll also encounter data stored in relational databases. In this video, I'll briefly talk about what a relational database is and then I'll explain how you can connect to it. In the next video, I'll explain how you can import data from it! So, what's a relational database? There's no better way to show this than with an example. Take this database, called company. It contains three tables, employees, products and sales. Like a flat file, information is displayed in a table format. The employees table has 5 records and three fields, namely id, name and started_at. The id here serves as a unique key for each row or record. Next, the products table contains the details on four products. We're dealing with data from a telecom company that's selling both with and without a contract. Also here, each product has an identifier. Finally, there's the sales table. It lists what products were sold by who, when and for what price. Notice here that the ids in employee_id and product_id correspond to the ids that you can find in the employees and products table respectively. The third sale for example, was done by the employee with id 6, so Julie. She sold the product with id 9, so the Biz Unlimited contract. These relations make this database very powerful. You only store all necessary information once in nicely separated tables, but can connect the dots between different records to model what's happening. How the data in a relational database is stored and shuffled around when you make adaptations, depends on the so-called database management system, or DBMS you're using. Open-source implementations such as MySQL, postgreSQL and SQLite are very popular, but there are also proprietary implementations such as Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL server. Practically all of these implementations use SQL, or sequel, as the language for querying and maintaining the database. SQL stands for Structured Query Language. Depending on the type of database you want to connect to, you'll have to use different packages. Suppose the company database I introduced before is a MySQL database. This means you'll need the RMySQL package. For postgreSQL you'll need RpostgreSQL, for Oracle, you'll use ROracle and so on. How you interact with the database, so which R functions you use to access and manipulate the database, is specified in another R package called DBI. In more technical terms, DBI is an interface, and RMySQL is the implementation. Let's install the RMySQL package, which automatically installs the DBI package as well. Loading only the DBI package will be enough to get started. The first step is creating a connection to the remote MySQL database. You do this with dbConnect(), as follows. The first argument specifies the driver that you will use to connect to the MySQL database. It sure looks a bit strange, but the MySQL() function from the RMySQL package simply constructs a driver for us that dbConnect can use. Next, you have to specify the database name, where the database is hosted, through which port you want to connect, and finally the credentials to authenticate yourself. This is an actual database that we're hosting, so you can try these commands yourself! The result of the dbConnect call, con, is a DBI connection object. You'll need to pass this object to whatever function you're using to interact with the database. Before we do that, let's get familiar with this connection object in the exercises!

Connecting SQL Tables and data in Excel spreadsheets

03:08
For more videos on technology, visit http://www.Techytube.com By [email protected] SQL server is a powerful database platform, this means that it can also be complex to understand and work with. However the major users of the data in the database are still a non-technical business user. A key problem that most business users face when it comes to working with SQL Server is the dependency on an IT professional to query and return the data in a CSV format or Excel sheet. With the ability of MS Excel to be able to connect to SQL Server via the ODBC Drivers allows users to work with SQL tables within the familiar Excel User interface. This approach allows users to be productive with SQL Server without having to know Transact SQL. The feature set provided with MS Excel and newer versions of SQL allow business users to do much more than just query the database. These include the ability to query and view data in pivot format for large data sets using power pivot. Perform ad hoc calculations to underlying data and create models that are specific to their business case using the powerful DAX language. Embedding reports in SharePoint services using PowerPivot. Working with Excel is one of the most powerful ways that end users can work with MS SQL Server to deliver results faster and improve productivity.
