This example is using Microsoft SQL Server Express, but could also use the SQL Server included with FactoryTalk View. I used a separate database as I expect that is what most people will be doing.

Use NOCOPY to Improve Performance

05:15
The NOCOPY parameter hint tells the PL/SQL compiler to pass OUT and IN-OUT parameters "by reference" (meaning: do not copy in, nor copy out). The result is better performance and reduced PGA consumption. ====================================== Practically Perfect PL/SQL with Steven Feuerstein Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. DEF CON 18 - Sumit Siddharth - Hacking Oracle From Web Apps

51:37
Sumit Siddharth - Hacking Oracle From Web Apps This talk will focus on exploiting SQL injections in web applications with oracle back-end and will discuss all old/new techniques. The talk will target Oracle 9i,10g and 11g (R1 and R2) It is widely considered that the impact of SQL Injection in web apps with Oracle back-end is limited to extraction of data with the privileges of user mentioned in connection string. Oracle database does not offer hacker friendly functionalities such as openrowset or xp_cmdshell for privilege escalation and O.S code execution. Further, as Oracle by design do not support execution of multiple query in single SQL statement, the exploitation is further restricted. The Talk will highlight attack vector to achieve privilege escalation (from Scott to SYS) and O.S code execution, all by exploiting Oracle SQL injections from web applications. Further, as a number of organizations move to compliances like PCI ensuring that the Card data is always stored encrypted with the private key never stored inside the database. The talk will focus on what hackers are doing in the wild to bypass these and to obtain clear text card data when its only stored encrypted or even when its never stored. Sumit "sid" Siddharth works as a Principal Security Consultant and heads the Penetration Testing department for 7Safe Limited in the UK. He has been a speaker at many security conferences including Defcon, Troopers, OWASP Appsec, Sec-T, IT-Underground etc. He has contributed a number of whitepapers, security tools, exploits and advisories to the industry. He also runs the popular IT security blog www.notsosecure.com. Living in the Shadow of the Shadow Brokers - SANS DFIR Summit 2018

31:20
Most people know the Shadow Brokers leaked (supposedly) stolen NSA cyber tools, which lead to some of the most significant cyber security incidents of 2017. But in addition to targeting NSA, the Shadow Brokers have also targeted a few individuals in our community. Hear about the history of the Shadow Brokers and the implications of their actions for infosec and DFIR from one of the group’s targets. Have something you absolutely wanted to know about this great spy vs. spy saga, but were afraid to ask? This is your chance! Jake Williams (@MalwareJake), Senior Instructor, SANS Institute When a complex cyber attack put a private equity investment of more than $700 million on hold, the stakes couldn't have been higher. But that's exactly the kind of challenge that motivates Jake Williams, a computer science and information security expert, U.S. Army veteran, certified SANS instructor and co-author of FOR526: Memory Forensics In-Depth and FOR578: Cyber Threat Intelligence. To help mitigate the attack, Jake plied his information security expertise, discovered that not one but three different attackers had compromised the firm's network, and went about countering their moves. Jake relishes the idea of meeting adversaries on the cyber battlefield. "I went into this field because I wanted a challenge," he says. "Infosec is like a game of chess to me. The attacker plays their moves and you play yours." Jake started his information security career doing classified work with the U.S. government and was awarded the National Security Agency (NSA) Exceptional Civilian Service Award, which is given to fewer than 20 people annually. "I am immensely proud of the things I've accomplished," Jake says. "I'm positive the world is a safer place because of my work." Today, Jake runs a successful Infosec consultancy. He's been involved in high-profile public sector cases including the malware analysis for the 2015 cyber attack on the Ukraine power grid. He's also tackled a variety of cases in the private sector. In one, Jake discovered attackers compromising a custom service the client had distributed to all its endpoints. Leveraging experience and insight with advanced persistent threats helped Jake "think like the attacker" and determine the attacker's likely hiding spots.

Black Hat USA 2010: Hacking Oracle From Web Apps 4/5

14:58
Speaker: Sumit Siddharth This talk will focus on exploiting SQL injections in web applications with oracle back-end and will discuss all old/new techniques. As a number of organizations move to compliances like PCI thereby ensuring that the Card data is always stored encrypted with the private key never stored inside the database. The talk will focus on what hackers are doing in the wild to bypass these and to obtain clear text card data when its only stored encrypted or even when its never stored at all. Why Aren't More Users More Happy With Our VMs?

01:08:31
Programming language Virtual Machines (VM)s are now widely used, from server applications to web browsers. Published benchmarks regularly show that VMs can optimise programs to the same degree as, and often substantially better than, traditional static compilers. Yet, there are still people who are unhappy with the VMs they use. Frequently their programs don't run anywhere near as fast as benchmarks suggest; sometimes their programs even run slower than more naive language implementations. Often our reaction is to tell such users that their programs are "wrong" and that they should fix them. This talk takes a detailed look at VM performance, based on a lengthy experiment and a new statistical technique for analysing warmup time: we not only uncovered unexpected patterns of behaviour, but found that VMs perform poorly far more often than previously thought. I will draw on some of my own experiences to suggest how we may have gotten into such a pickle. Finally, I will offer some suggestions as to how we might be able to make more VM users more happy in the future. See more at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/video/arent-users-happy-vms/
