➤ Project tutorial: https://www.jackmanworks.com/mission-style-wood-door-from-scratch/ ➤ Please share and subscribe? http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ This is a mission style 2 panel door made from a really old piece of pine and a piece of glass salvaged from a junk door I found in the trash. The piece of pine belonged to my great-grandfather who's daughter (my grandmother) still lives in the house that he built back in the 50s. Joints between the pieces are all tongue and groove. Gorilla glue is used at the main wood joints and caulking is used at the panels and glass to keep them in place but also allow them to move slightly with the temperature. The bug canals in the pine were filled with epoxy and sanded smooth, then the whole door was finished with poly. mmmk? Going to sew up my pit now. ________CREDITS & PROJECT SPECIFIC LINK________ ■ Music by Agulhas: https://soundcloud.com/agulhasmusic ________GENERAL PANDERING LINKS________ ■ http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ http://www.twitter.com/JackmanWorks ■ http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop

This conservatory in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire has increased the living space in this old-style Georgian property. The rear of the property has been knocked through creating an open plan kitchen which now leads out to the new glass room. The new conservatory consists of an insulated portal frame which houses the sliding doors and supports the glass roof. The lean to roof itself is made up of thermally broken aluminium and runs 5.5 metres across and projects out from the property by 5.5 metres. Due to the size of this roof a purlin was installed which has been designed to complement the overall appearance of this conservatory creating a real architectural feature of the required additional support. The roof also boasts a manually operated opening vent, shaped aluminium frames on the returns and commercial quality glazing which is both solar reflective and self-cleaning. The body of the conservatory is made up of our XP Glide sliding doors. The benefits of which are of course the unobstructed views that our patio doors allow as individual panels can be manufactured much larger than our equivalent folding door panels. The front of conservatory houses a twin track, two pane sliding doors at 3.25m wide and 2.2m high, while the return is made up of our triple track, three panel sliding doors at 5.4m wide and 2.2m high. Our roofing systems can be designed to suit any property, whether you require a large glass room like this one, or a simple small conservatory we can help find a design that suits you. An aluminium roofing system from Express will not only increase the size of your home, it will increase its value and allow you to enjoy the additional living space for twelve months in the year visit http://www.expressbifoldingdoors.co.uk to find out more about our products and services.

Here I make a pair of Mahogany framed stained glass doors for the kitchen in my mother-in-law's caravan. I re-used an old staircase that we removed in our church a few years ago. I didn't capture the pulling apart of the old stairs and re-milling process because it was raining when I did it and I couldn't set the camera up anywhere. Enjoy and thanks for watching.

We had a unique need for a door/divider to our master bedroom. It has been designed to swing in and out as well as to tuck away neatly - acting as a window blind of sorts. It is built from one of several glass panels we recovered from a 1940s ranch style house that was scheduled for demolition. It only took 3 years to get around to doing it!

this is something we get asked to do often, you can add mullions but I find that if you don't line the shelves up with them it don't look too good,so just a single pane look seems to work best for displaying whatever you want in your kitchen. thank you for watching My videos are for entertainment only. Woodworking can be dangerous. The methods I use are my methods, and are not necessarily correct or safe! If in doubt, DON'T DO IT, it is best to learn more before you start. THAD: Hi, I'm Thad from Home Made Simple on OWN, and I want to talk to you about doorknobs. Doorknobs around your house can wiggle, come loose as they get old and as they get used more. If you have an older vintage doorknob like this on one of your doors and it comes loose like they do a lot of times, it's an easy fix. There's a metal connecting rod that binds these two handles together -- runs through the door -- that actually has threads on it. There's a little set screw on the handle that holds this in place once you've threaded it all the way to the door. So to tighten this up, you wanna make sure that that's nice and loose, and just thread it right back on the rose plate. Once it's nice and tight, you can go ahead and reset that screw, but make sure not to over-tighten this. If you over-tighten it, you can bind up the latching mechanism and the door won't close right. Once you have the door handle threaded back on, you can tighten that set screw back down on the handle, and it will hold it in place so it won't come loose again. For more household repairs, go to HomeMadeSimple.com.

Click here to SUBSCRIBE to the official This Old House YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=thisoldhouse Time: 3 hours Cost: $100 Skill Level: Moderate Tools List for Creating a Dutch Door: Pencil Safety glasses Chisel Utility knife Drill Track saw Palm sander Shopping List: Hinges (with screws) Barrel latch Scrap cardboard Scrap wood for Filler Wood glue Wood screws 80-100 grit sandpaper Steps: 1. With the door still hung in the jamb, mark where the cut for Dutch door will be. Use that as a guide to mark for 2 additional hinges above and below the cut mark. 2. Mortise the door where the new hinges will go with a chisel. Scoring around the mark with a utility knife can help prevent the door from chipping or cracking. 3. Once the hinges can fit flush against the door, attach the hinges to the door using a drill and screws. 4. With the new hinges attached to the door, trace where the hinges will attach to the jamb. Mortise the jamb and attach the other side of the hinges the same as earlier. 5. Replace the old hinges with new ones so that all four hinges match. If the old hinges are thicker than the new ones, add a filler piece of scrap cardboard behind both hinges before installing. 6. Remove the door from the jamb. 7. Cut two pieces of scrap wood the width of the door and taper them on opposite sides. 8. Cut the door in half with the track saw to fit the tapered filler pieces. 9. Attach one filler piece to the bottom of the top half of the door using wood glue and screws. 10. Rehang the top half of the door, then the bottom. With the door in place, attach the second filler piece to the top of the bottom half of the door and adjust as necessary with a palm sander. 11. Install a barrel latch to the top and bottom halves of the door to lock the top half of the door. Resources: Everything Tom used for this project, including the chisel, utility knife, hole saw, hinges, and latches can be found at home centers. Tom used wood glue and polyurethane glue, manufactured by Gorilla Glue (https://www.gorillatough.com/) The track saw Tom used is manufactured by Festool (https://www.festoolusa.com/) Expert assistance for this project was provided by Woodcraft (https://www.woodcraft.com/). Watch the full episode: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/tv/ask-toh/video/0,,21002944,00.html Ask This Old House general contractor Tom Silva takes a homeowner’s salvaged door and uses several tricks to make it fit. (See below for a shopping list, tools, and steps.) Click here to SUBSCRIBE to the official This Old House YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=thisoldhouse Shopping List for How to Fit a Salvaged Door in an Existing Opening: - 2x4 piece of poplar Tools for How to Fit a Salvaged Door in an Existing Opening: - Drill-Driver or screwdriver - Hand plane - Track saw - Scribes - Utility knife - Speed square - Screws - Wood glue Steps for How to Fit a Salvaged Door in an Existing Opening: 1. Remove the hinges from the doorframe using a driver in reverse or a screwdriver. 2. Remove the hinges from the door using a driver in reverse or a screwdriver. 3. Place door in opening and push it up tight to the header. 4. Use a pair of scribes to follow the angle of the gap between the header and the door starting at the widest gap and tracing until the lowest gap. 5. Cut the marked portion of the door using a track saw. 6. Take a small piece of wood and line it up with the top hinge. Mark it 1/8-inch longer than the door to account for the space between the header and the door. 7. Also mark the distance on the wood from the edge of the hinge to the face of the door. Now, that can serve as a gauge for making the hinge points in the doorframe. 8. Now, place the gauge tight against the underside of the doorframe. Using it as a guide, match up the hinge with the edge on the gauge. That’s where you want the hinge to be placed. 9. Drill holes through the holes in the hinge and drive in screws. 10. Mount the bottom hinge by using the same reference lines on the gauge. 11. Close the door and see how it fits into the opening. 12. If there is a gap between the door and the frame on the hinge side, you may have to mortise out the hinges. 13. Next, check the distance between the door and the floor. If there’s a gap, you may have to account for it by adding a piece. 14. Measure the distance between the door and the floor at its highest point. Take that measurement and subtract 1/8-inch and that’s what you’ll want for the added length. 15. To add the extra piece of door, take the measured piece of poplar and glue it to the bottom using wood glue. 16. Then drive in two screws at the bottom to keep it together. 17. Using a hand plane, plane door the piece of poplar until it’s level with the rest of the door. 18. To create a fake seam to match the rail of the door, use a speed square as a straight edge and a utility knife to mark the poplar. Go over the cut several times.
