SQL: create tablespace DEMO1 datafile '/u02/tstdb1/TSTDB1/datafile/demo01.dbf' size 50M SQL: create table objects tablespace DEMO1 as select * from dba_objects; SQL: alter table objects add constraint pk_obj primary key #object_id$; SQL: create index idx_obj_name on objects#object_name$ tablespace demo1; Backup tablespace. RMAN: backup tablespace DEMO1; We need to put the DB in archivelog first Rebuild index with NOLOGGING option to simulate soft corruption later. RMAN: alter index idx_obj_name rebuild nologging; Confirm that we have datafiles that require backup because they have been affected with NOLOGGING operation. RMAN: report unrecoverable; Simulate corruption. RMAN: alter database datafile 5 offline; RMAN: restore datafile 5; RMAN: recover datafile 5; RMAN: alter database datafile 5 online; Query table with corrupted index and notice error. SQL: select count#*$ from objects where object_name like 'A%'; Let’s perform validation of datafile to check block corruption. RMAN: backup validate check logical datafile 5; Notice that we have 457 blocks marked corrupt but v$database_block_corruption view is empty. All errors are related to index corruption so we could fix this problem rebuilding index. alter index idx_obj_name rebuild; Simply issuing "alter index rebuild" command won't work. We should mark index unusable to drop segment before rebuilding it or just rebuild index with online option. It is better choice to mark index unusable because you don't need additional space then, but I will simply rebuild index with online option and see what will happen. SQL: alter index idx_obj_name rebuild online; Index altered. SQL: select count#*$ from objects where object_name like 'A%'; No errors... but, let's validate datafile for corruption. RMAN: backup validate check logical datafile 5; Notice "Marked Corrupt" column. Hm... 457 like before. Don't worry, this is not new corruption. These are FREE blocks which will be reused and Oracle will automatically re-format those blocks. Query the v$nonlogged_block view again as given above. We could force re-formatting creating dummy table and inserting data to dummy table. Check Doc ID 336133.1. create table s # n number, c varchar2#4000$ $ nologging tablespace DEMO1; SQL: BEGIN FOR i IN 1..1000000 LOOP INSERT /*+ APPEND */ INTO sys.s select i, lpad#'REFORMAT',3092, 'R'$ from dual; commit ; END LOOP; END; / SQL: drop table sys.s purge; Notice that we don't have corrupted blocks any more. The REVALIDATE option regenerates the table headers for a partitioned table or uncompressed join index and optionally verifies and corrects the row partitioning for a table (but not for a join index) if you specify the WITH DELETE or WITH INSERT null partition handling options. You can create subpartitions in a composite partitioned table using a subpartition template. A subpartition template simplifies the specification of subpartitions by not requiring that a subpartition descriptor be specified for every partition in the table. Instead, you describe subpartitions only once in a template, then apply that subpartition template to every partition in the table. For interval-* composite partitioned tables, the subpartition template is the only way to define subpartitions for interval partitions. The subpartition template is used whenever a subpartition descriptor is not specified for a partition. If a subpartition descriptor is specified, then it is used instead of the subpartition template for that partition. If no subpartition template is specified, and no subpartition descriptor is supplied for a partition, then a single default subpartition is created. Specifying a Subpartition Template for a *-Hash Partitioned Table In the case of [range | interval | list]-hash partitioned tables, the subpartition template can describe the subpartitions in detail, or it can specify just the number of hash subpartitions. The following example creates a range-hash partitioned table using a subpartition template: CREATE TABLE emp_sub_template (deptno NUMBER, empname VARCHAR(32), grade NUMBER) PARTITION BY RANGE(deptno) SUBPARTITION BY HASH(empname) SUBPARTITION TEMPLATE (SUBPARTITION a TABLESPACE ts1, SUBPARTITION b TABLESPACE ts2, SUBPARTITION c TABLESPACE ts3, SUBPARTITION d TABLESPACE ts4 ) (PARTITION p1 VALUES LESS THAN (1000), PARTITION p2 VALUES LESS THAN (2000), PARTITION p3 VALUES LESS THAN (MAXVALUE) ); This example produces the following table description: Every partition has four subpartitions as described in the subpartition template. For over a year, I have been updating legacy 4GL/Windows applications to Linux and C++. A primary hang-up of the old system is its lack of scalability. In order to design the replacements with more breadth we implemented 0MQ (zeromq.org) for our communications protocol. When the messages you send are in XML you can easily save another 30% in message size just by switching to JSON (nlohmann/json). The JSON works well with 0MQ as its primary message input is char*. Here using scaled down version of our production code, we will demonstrate how we use it and what we learned so far. Click here to Subscribe to IT PORT Channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMjmoppveJ3mwspLKXYbVlg Some times we are facing a problem with updating statistics in large tables in SQL Server is that the entire table always has to be scanned, for example when using the WITH FULLSCAN option, even if only recent data has changed. This is also true when using partitioning, even if only the newest partition had changed since the last time statistics were updated, updating statistics again required to scan the entire table including all the partitions that didn’t change. Incremental statistics, a new SQL Server 2014 feature, can help with this problem. Using incremental statistics you can update only the partition or partitions that you need and the information on these partitions will be merged with the existing information to create the final statistics object. Another advantage of incremental statistics is that the percentage of data changes required to trigger an automatic update of statistics now works at the partition level which basically means that now only 20% of rows changed (changes on the leading statistics column) per partition are required.

Speeding-up large-scale storage with NVM (Non-Volatile Memory). CERN EOS distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant filesystem serves data to 100s-1000s of clients. To speed-up the service, it keeps and updates a large and fast data Catalog in RAM that can reach a footprint of 100+ GBs. When a EOS server node crashes the Master node must rebuild a new coherent Catalog in memory from disk logs, a long operation that disrupts the activity of the clients. We propose to design a persistent, version of the EOS Catalog to be stored in the new Non-Volatile Memory that will remain consistent after faults. Upon restart, the EOS server process will find the Catalog in NVM and immediately resume serving all the clients, skipping the slow reconstructions from disk-based logs altogether. This debate took place back in 1996. James White is the director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, a Christian apologetics organization based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the author of more than twenty books, a professor, an accomplished debater, and an elder of the Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church. Tim Staples is the Director of Apologetics and Evangelization at Catholic Answers, but he was not always Catholic. Tim was raised a Southern Baptist and later, as an adult, enrolled in Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. He converted to Catholicism in 1988.

MapReduce is a programming model and an associated implementation for processing and generating large data sets with a parallel, distributed algorithm on a cluster. A MapReduce program is composed of a Map() procedure that performs filtering and sorting (such as sorting students by first name into queues, one queue for each name) and a Reduce() procedure that performs a summary operation (such as counting the number of students in each queue, yielding name frequencies). The "MapReduce System" (also called "infrastructure" or "framework") orchestrates the processing by marshalling the distributed servers, running the various tasks in parallel, managing all communications and data transfers between the various parts of the system, and providing for redundancy and fault tolerance. SUMMARY ======= Ancient Egyptian religion was a complex system of polytheistic beliefs and rituals which were an integral part of ancient Egyptian society. It centered on the Egyptians' interaction with many deities who were believed to be present in, and in control of, the world. Rituals such as prayers and offerings were efforts to provide for the gods and gain their favor. Formal religious practice centered on the pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, who was believed to possess a divine power by virtue of their position. They acted as the intermediary between their people and the gods and was obligated to sustain the gods through rituals and offerings so that they could maintain order in the universe. The state dedicated enormous resources to Egyptian rituals and to the construction of the temples. Individuals could interact with the gods for their own purposes, appealing for their help through prayer or compelling them to act through magic. These practices were distinct from, but closely linked with, the formal rituals and institutions. The popular religious tradition grew more prominent in the course of Egyptian history as the status of the Pharaoh declined. Another important aspect was the belief in the afterlife and funerary practices. The Egyptians made great efforts to ensure the survival of their souls after death, providing tombs, grave goods, and offerings to preserve the bodies and spirits of the deceased. The religion had its roots in Egypt's prehistory and lasted for more than 3,000 years. The details of religious belief changed over time as the importance of particular gods rose and declined, and their intricate relationships shifted. At various times, certain gods became preeminent over the others, including the sun god Ra, the creator god Amun, and the mother goddess Isis. For a brief period, in the theology promulgated by the Pharaoh Akhenaten, a single god, the Aten, replaced the traditional pantheon. Ancient Egyptian religion and mythology left behind many writings and monuments, along with significant influences on ancient and modern cultures.

The region encompasses the major cities and metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, along with smaller urban and rural areas. The Bay Area's nine counties are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. Home to approximately 7.44 million people, the nine-county Bay Area contains many cities, towns, airports, and associated regional, state, and national parks, connected by a network of roads, highways, railroads, bridges, tunnels and commuter rail. The combined urban area of the region is the second-largest in California (after the Greater Los Angeles area), the fifth-largest in the United States, and the 56th-largest urban area in the world. The United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) does not use the nine-county definition of the San Francisco Bay Area. The OMB has designated a more extensive 12-county Combined Statistical Area (CSA) titled the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area which also includes the three counties of San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, and San Benito that do not border San Francisco Bay, but are economically tied to the nine counties that do.
