Table Shrinking in Oracle Database
1.Shrink the Table: Shrinking is started from 10g. In this method I’m using user u1 and table name sm1. Now I’m deleting some rows in sm1 COUNT ---------- 1048576 Table sm1 has 1048576 rows. [email protected]: delete from sm1 where deptno=10; 262144 rows deleted. I deleted above number of rows. Rows COUNT ---------- 786432 And I’m giving commit [email protected]: commit; Commit complete. So now we have 786432 rows in sm1 table. Now see the following command [email protected]: select OWNER,TABLESPACE_NAME,SEGMENT_NAME,SEGMENT_TYPE,BYTES/1024/1024||' mb'"space",BLOCKS,EXTENTS from dba_segments where tablespace_name like 'U%TS'; OWNER TABLESPACE_NAME SEGMENT_NAME SEGMENT_TYPE space BLOCKS EXTENTS ----- --------------- ------------- ------------- ------ ---------- ---------- U1 U1TS SM1 TABLE 29 mb 3712 44 After I deleted some rows in sm1 table still above result showing same values, so now our duty is shrink this table. This is done by following 2 ways, i By using COMPACT key word: In this method shrinking is done in two phases. In the first phase all fragmented space are just defragmented, but still the High Water Mark is persist with last used block only. That mean used free blocks are not de allocated and HWM is not updated here. Issue the following command before use shrink command. [email protected] alter table sm1 enable row movement; Table altered. There is particular use with above command, when we shrink the table all rows are moves to contiguous blocks, so here row movement should be done. By default the row movement is disabled for any table, so above command enabled the row movement. Then execute shrink command now. [email protected]: alter table sm1 shrink space compact; Table altered. Now see the space of table by using below command. [email protected]: select OWNER,TABLESPACE_NAME,SEGMENT_NAME,SEGMENT_TYPE,BYTES/1024/1024||' mb'"space",BLOCKS,EXTENTS from dba_segments where tablespace_name like 'U%TS'; OWNER TABLESPACE_NAME SEGMENT_NAME SEGMENT_TYPE space BLOCKS EXTENTS ----- --------------- ------------- ------------- ------ ---------- ---------- U1 U1TS SM1 TABLE 29 mb 3712 44 So here seems nothing happened with above shrink command, but internally the fragmented space is defragmented. But the high water mark is not updated, used free blocks are also not de allocated. For de allocating the used blocks we have to execute below command. This is the second phase. [email protected]: alter table sm1 shrink space; Table altered. Now see the space by using below command. [email protected]: select OWNER,TABLESPACE_NAME,SEGMENT_NAME,SEGMENT_TYPE,BYTES/1024/1024||' mb'"space",BLOCKS,EXTENTS from dba_segments where tablespace_name like 'U%TS'; OWNER TABLESPACE_NAME SEGMENT_NAME SEGMENT_TYPE space BLOCKS EXTENTS ----- --------------- ------------- ------------- ---------- ---------- ---------- U1 U1TS SM1 TABLE 20.8125 mb 2664 36 So now the space of sm1 table is reduced. Note: Actually the alter table sm1 shrink space command will complete these two phases of the shrinking of table at a time. But here we done shrink process in two phases because when we use alter table sm1 shrink space command the table locked temporarily some time period, during this period users unable to access the table. So if we use alter table sm1 shrink space compact command the table is not locked but space is defragmented. When we not in business hours issue the second phase shrink command then users are won’t get any problem. ii Because of above method the table dependent objects are goes to invalid state, to overcome this problem we have to use below command. [email protected]: alter table sm1 shrink space cascade; Table altered. The above command also shrinks the space of all dependent objects. We also do this in two phases like above two phases. See the below command. [email protected]: alter table sm1 shrink space compact cascade; Table altered. And then [email protected]: alter table sm1 shrink space cascade; Table altered. Dropping Tablesapce in oracle 12c (DIFFERENT METHODS)
The Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command is used to remove a tablespace from the database. In the following example, we will drop the USELESS tablespace from our database using the Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command: Drop tablespace useless; The Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command Oracle will generate an error if objects reside in the tablespace. Do the following to remove all objects in the tablespace prior to using Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command: Drop tablespace useless including contents; Oracle does not clean up after itself wile using the Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command by default. An option exists to force Oracle to clean up after itself using the Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command. The following example illustrates the Oracle DROP TABLESPACE command used with the including contents and datafiles keywords: Drop tablespace useless including contents and datafiles;

TSQL: Find Unused Tables
I applaud the author of the article for looking at this, as it's challenging. I would be very careful though before making some of the assumptions; we want to be sure that something is unused, and we should always have discussions with application developers to make sure we don't disrupt what they're doing.

Truncate All Tables from a SQL Server Database - TSQL Tutorial
Let's think about a database that we use for our ETL process and we call that database staging. We want to truncate all the tables in morning so those can be used for the daily process. Once way is to write our Truncate statement for each of the table but tables can be dropped or new tables can be created as well. We want to write a query that we can be use to Truncate all the tables from a database and we don't have to rewrite our Truncate statements. If the tables do not have Primary Key -Foreign Key relationship, we can use Truncate. But we often have tables which are referenced by other tables. We can not use Truncate statement for those tables. The only way to Truncate those tables is to drop the Foreign Key Constraint before Truncating and then Truncate and Recreate Relationship after that. The below Code can be used to Truncate all the tables from the database. If Tables will have the Pk-Fk relationship, The script will drop the Foreign Key Constraints first and then Truncate those tables and finally recreate the Foreign Key constraints. Before you run below Script, Make sure you are pointing to correct Database and Server! All the best with Truncating all the tables from a SQL Server Database. Our goal is to help each other reach our dreams through friendship and cooperation. As you can see below, a bunch of us have joined forces to make this happen: authors, editors, subject matter experts, app reviewers, and most importantly our amazing readers! ---- From Apple's documentation (https://developer.apple.com/reference/uikit/uistackview) Stack views let you leverage the power of Auto Layout, creating user interfaces that can dynamically adapt to the device’s orientation, screen size, and any changes in the available space. The stack view manages the layout of all the views in its arrangedSubviews property. These views are arranged along the stack view’s axis, based on their order in the arrangedSubviews array. The exact layout varies depending on the stack view’s axis, distribution, alignment, spacing, and other properties. To use a stack view, open the Storyboard you wish to edit. Drag either a Horizontal Stack View or a Vertical Stack View out from the Object library, and position the stack view where desired. Next, drag out the stack’s content, dropping the view or control into the stack. You can continue to add views and controls to your stack, as needed. Interface Builder resizes the stack based on its content. You can also adjust the appearance of the stack’s content by modifying the Stack View’s properties in the Attributes inspector. Stack View and Auto Layout The stack view uses Auto Layout to position and size its arranged views. The stack view aligns the first and last arranged view with its edges along the stack’s axis. In a horizontal stack, this means the first arranged view’s leading edge is pinned to the stack’s leading edge, and the last arranged view’s trailing edge is pinned to the stack’s trailing edge. In vertical stacks, the top and bottom edges are pinned, to the stack’s top and bottom edges respectively. If you set the stack view’s isLayoutMarginsRelativeArrangement property to true, the stack view pins its content to the relevant margin instead of its edge. For all distributions except the fillEqually distribution, the stack view uses each arranged view’s intrinsicContentSize property when calculating its size along the stack’s axis. fillEqually resizes all the arranged views so they are the same size, filling the stack view along its axis. If possible, the stack view stretches all the arranged views to match the view with the longest intrinsic size along the stack’s axis. For all alignments except the fill alignment, the stack view uses each arranged view’s intrinsicContentSize property when calculating its size perpendicular to the stack’s axis. fill resizes all the arranged views so that they fill the stack view perpendicularly to its axis. If possible, the stack view stretches all the arranged views to match the view with the largest intrinsic size perpendicular to the stack’s axis. Positioning and Sizing the Stack View Although a stack view allows you to layout its contents without using Auto Layout directly, you still need to use Auto Layout to position the stack view, itself. In general, this means pinning at least two, adjacent edges of the stack view to define its position. Without additional constraints, the system calculates the size of the stack view based on its contents. Along the stack view’s axis, its fitting size is equal to the sum of the sizes of all the arranged views plus the space between views. Perpendicular to the stack view’s axis, its fitting size is equal to the size of the largest arranged view. If the stack view’s isLayoutMarginsRelativeArrangement property is set to true, the stack view’s fitting size is increased to include space for the margins. You can provide additional constraints to specify the stack view’s height, width, or both. In these cases, the stack view adjusts the layout and size of its arranged views to fill the specified area. The exact layout varies based on the stack view’s properties. See the UIStackViewDistribution and UIStackViewAlignment enums for a complete description on how the stack view handles having either extra space or insufficient space for its content. You can also position a stack view based on its first or last baseline, instead of using the top, bottom, or center Y position. Like the stack view’s fitting size, these baselines are calculated based on the stack view’s content.

Web Development Primer for PL/SQL Programmers - Inspecting AJAX Network Traffic
Web Developer Primer for PL/SQL - Inspecting AJAX Network Traffic What we're going to do here is we're not going to jump into AJAX code or syntax. What we're going to do is we're going to use an Oracle Application Express example and some AJAX traffic that was generated by some of the declarative aspects of APEX. Specifically, we're going to show you a department dropdown list and when that value changes, the list of employees that comes back from the server is either the sales or accounting or research department. That is an example of cascading list of values that is based in AJAX under the hood. When you click on an employee name, you get their salary back which is again another AJAX call that was defined by a declarative dynamic action within Oracle Application Express. Let's have a look at that so we could see that in action. I've got a little application here. Let's have a look at this. Let's run the application. This is Oracle Application Express application. No. Let's keep this. Let's run it again. We're just going to concentrate here on department, employee name, and salary. What happens here is if I select the sales department, we end up with a list of salespeople. If I select accounting, we get a list of accountants. And if I select employee, I get their salary. That was all done without doing a full-page refresh. As I said earlier, a full page refresh is very expensive on the server side and you really don't want to do that if you have hundreds or thousands of users using your application. You want things to be as efficient as possible. First thing you want to do - this is all working here. It's fine. It's very simple. But if you do have some sort of complicated AJAX call that's doing something sophisticated and it's not working correctly, one of the first things you want to do is isolate the bug either to your client side code in your browser or on your server side. The first thing you want to do there is inspect the network traffic that's going back and forth to make sure that the values you're passing back and forth are in fact correct. And the web developer tool allows you to inspect that traffic. So let's have a look. First, let me shrink this down a little bit so we can see a bit better. If we right-click here almost anywhere, here our tools comes up. We're not interested in the elements tab here. Funny enough, since we're looking for network traffic we want to look on the network tab. And right now since we've just brought this up, there's nothing here. When I click sales... We've got something. It looks like a breakpoint in the APEX code. Let's just click on that to bang through the code and let's get back to the network tab. You could see here now we've got a post that resulted from our click on the development. So let's inspect that by clicking here on the wv_flow_show and let's go to the "Header" sub tab here. There's a lot of information here. It goes on and on and on here. What we want to do is let's collapse this "Request Headers" because we're really not interested in that. There's something down here below called "Response Headers." We're not interested in that. What we want to look at is the form data. This is the data that gets passed from a client to the server. It's a little bit confusing here. You see here this p_flow_id? It is actually in fact our application ID. I think if you can see up here, in the developer toolbar application 444, that leads into a little bit of history lesson here with the Oracle Application Express. Back in 1999 and year 2000, in that era, Application Express was actually known as flows. That was the name inside Oracle at that time. A flow actually was an application. Here we have flow_step. The pages in that application were actually at that time known as steps, and that old, old terminology actually has survived under the hood in the APEX source code. That's why you see that funny flow and step stuff down here. But there's the application ID 444 and we're on page 2. The interesting stuff is really not that. That is kind of like the housekeeping stuff. What I want to show you down here is the name value pairs here that are being passed to the server. This department dropdown list here that's got sales in it, it's actually p2_defno and the value that's being passed for the sales department is actually 30. When you do have problems with your AJAX calls, one of the first things you do is inspect the network traffic to make sure that these values are in fact correct.

How to Move, Resize, Autohide Task Bar Windows 7 Tips and Tricks [ITfriend] #ITfriend #ITfriend
How to Move, Resize, Autohide Task Bar Windows 7 Tips and Tricks For those who like utilizing the rapid Launch toolbar however desire that it did not soak up a lot room on the taskbar, that you can effectively move the rapid Launch toolbar to another vicinity on the laptop. That you can transfer it to the highest, left, or proper fringe of the computing device. This is how: correct-click on on the taskbar and decide on the Lock The Taskbar command to free up the taskbar. Function your mouse pointer over the dotted vertical divider on the left fringe of the rapid Launch toolbar. When your cursor turns into a double-headed arrow, just click on and drag the speedy Launch toolbar to any edge of the desktop and drop it. After you drop the rapid Launch toolbar, it will appear as a window. If it does, simply perform the drag-and-drop operation again making sure that toolbar anchors to the threshold of the desktop. You may also then have to resize the toolbar. Upon getting it put where you want, correct-click on the toolbar and decide upon the constantly On top command so that you could constantly entry the fast Launch toolbar simply as you do the taskbar. Right-click on the taskbar and select the Lock The Taskbar command to unlock the taskbar. Position your mouse pointer over the dotted vertical divider on the left edge of the Quick Launch toolbar. When your cursor turns into a double-headed arrow, just click and drag the Quick Launch toolbar to any edge of the desktop and drop it. After you drop the Quick Launch toolbar, it may appear as a window. If it does, just perform the drag-and-drop operation again making sure that toolbar anchors to the edge of the desktop. You may then need to resize the toolbar. Once you have it positioned where you want, right-click on the toolbar and select the Always On Top command so you can always access the Quick Launch toolbar just as you do the taskbar. http://www.itfriend.cf/

You can remove some of these applications from right click menu by deleting or disabling the folder. Step #1 open run To get started, on your windows search box type 'Run' and open. Step#2 regedit Type 'regedit' and click ok. Step#3 open hkey_classes_root Click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT- *(star)-shelex-context menu handlers. Step#4 choose the file you want to remove All the folders listed under ContextMenuHandlers are applications that show up when you right click on a file in Windows. There are two things that you can do:-You can either delete the folder to remove the option or simply disable the folder. Disabling the folder is better since you will be able to bring it back later on. To disable an application, click the folder in the left pane. Right click on the key value on the right pane and choose "Modify". Add a minus (-) in front of the key value. Click OK, then the refresh button at the top and then try right-clicking on the file! By now, the program should be gone from the context menu. Step#5 Do the same for folders You can do the same for folders by going to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT-Folder-shellex-ContextMenuHandlers Keep in mind that you can either delete the folders under ContextMenuHandlers or you can simply disable them by editing the key and putting a -- in front of the value.

Introspective Celtic Cross without editing that was too good to not share...
I am sorry for the ranting and excessive use of "got" and "uh". I need to fix the pc that I usually edit with and am using a different video camera. This camera doesn't have software that allows for editing like Movie Maker does with my other camera. It is a one shot deal so I can't cut out or add comments and title pages. Anyway, at least it is under 10 minutes, but I can't shrink or resize it to make it smaller. Hope it isn't too frustraiting. I will try to change the settings to make the original smaller next time. Not sidways.

Btrfs (B-tree file system, variously pronounced: "Butter F S", "Butterface", "Better F S", "B-tree F S", or simply by spelling it out) is a GPL-licensed experimental copy-on-write file system for Linux. Development began at Oracle Corporation in 2007. As of August 2014, the file system's on-disk format has been marked as stable; however, the Btrfs version included in the most recent Linux kernel mainline release should be used since the development of Btrfs is still very fast-paced. Btrfs is intended to address the lack of pooling, snapshots, checksums, and integral multi-device spanning in Linux file systems, these features being crucial as Linux use scales upward into the larger storage configurations common in enterprise. Chris Mason, the principal Btrfs author, has stated that its goal was "to let Linux scale for the storage that will be available. Scaling is not just about addressing the storage but also means being able to administer and to manage it with a clean interface that lets people see what's being used and makes it more reliable."
