Inside the French Ministry of Magic in Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald was a fabulous depiction of a magical zodiac, complete with 20 constellations, mostly of magical beasts. Although we only caught brief glimpses of it in the actual film, I think this celestial sphere was well thought out, directed from JK Rowling, and perhaps will continue to play a role in the series to come. Could it even hint at upcoming beasts in the next three films?

PART OF TRANSCRIPT:
In a couple of prior videos before the film released, we analyzed the Magical Zodiac seen in the French Ministry and the possible role it could play. Wal Does was instrumental in helping translate some of the beasts. Although in the film, we only caught brief glimpses of the Ministry ceiling, I believe the construction of the magical zodiac hints at several key themes for the series and still has a role to play. It’s even stated in The Art of The Crimes of Grindelwald, that the chart and its beasts were devised under the direction of JK Rowling.
Here’s a complete image of the Magical Zodiac designed by Dermot Power and created by Sam Leake. Thanks so much to Univers Harry Potter @UHP for posting it. In my initial analysis, I’d guessed that, based on the ecliptic degrees already posted, there would be twenty constellations, which is correct. Two we missed before because they were on the edges were the Graphorn and Thestral. So now, with this complete image, I was able to fill in the chart with both constellations and their degree, which you can see here.
I can’t imagine that in a series where magical beasts are central, that it won’t come to play in the rest of the films. Also, consider this image of Rowling visiting the set of Nurmengard, which we showed in a video prior to release. I speculated that this large book on magical constellations may be important to Grindelwald, and I still believe so. I believe in the remaining films, we may delve deeper into magical astrology.
Of the 20 constellations in this zodiac, 17 are magical beasts, and we’ve already seen 13 of them. But what of the other four? Is it possible they will play a role in the remaining films?
