Oracle Managed Files

11:12
Oracle Managed Files (OMF) OMF simplifies the creation of databases as Oracle does all OS operations and file naming. It has several advantages including: * Automatic cleanup of the filesystem when database objects are dropped. * Standardized naming of database files. * Increased portability since file specifications are not needed. * Simplified creation of test systems on differing operating systems. * No unused files wasting disk space. The location of database files is defined using the DB_CREATE_FILE_DEST parameter. If it is defined on its own all files are placed in the same location. If the DB_CREATE_ONLINE_LOG_DEST_n parameter is defined alternate locations and levels of multiplexing can be defined for Logfiles. These parameters are dymanic and can be changed using the ALTER SYSTEM statement. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=675154272533058&set=vb.244092622305894&type=2&theater&notif_t=video_comment

Oracle Managed File Transfer (Oracle MFT) enables secure file exchange and management with internal departments and external partners. It protects against inadvertent access to unsecured files at every step in the end-to-end transfer of files. It is easy to use especially for non technical staff so you can leverage more resources to manage the transfer of files. The extensive reporting capabilities allow you to get quick status of a file transfer and resubmit it as required. You can protect data in your DMZ by using the SSH/FTP reverse proxy. Partner Webcast – Oracle Managed File Transfer (MFT) with SOA 12c Integration

57:11
File processing has matured a lot in the recent years. Even though real-time processing is dominant in many integration patterns, fully integrated file transfer solutions are a core requirement in the new and hybrid world of cloud and on-premise enterprise. Cloud integrations are expected to increase the demand for file-based integrations even more. Built- in functionality for security, encryption, and global visibility have long been core Managed File Transfer requirements. Organizations still make heavy use of files utilizing bulk, batch, and real-time updates for application integration. As cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) is introduced in the IT landscape, file integrations simply increase in both size and volume. Oracle Managed File Transfer (MFT), a component that is tightly integrated with Oracle SOA Suite, enables secure file exchange and management with internal departments and external partners. How to configure Ubuntu server for Managed File Transfer (MFT) with SQL for IM&P 11.5

15:03
In this video, I'll show you how to configure an Ubuntu server for MFT (Managed File Transfer), I'll use MS SQL 2014 and IM&P 11.5 Compatibility with MS SQL 2014 is only available on IM&P 11.5 and above. You may also use any of the other options for DB that are available, PostgreSQL or Oracle, depending on your IM&P version. The Ubuntu server config would work the same for previous IM&P releases that support MFT, and with any other DB option. I'm using Ubuntu server as I like that Linux distribution, but you can use any other OS which meets the requirements: The file server must support an ext4 file system, SSHv2, and SSH tools. The file server must support OpenSSH 4.9 or later. Due to the fact there are many other Linux distributions that meet the requirements, I created the video to provide guidance on what to configure, and how to configure, however, the location of configuration files, the content of the files, and some of the commands might be different on your distribution. I will not cover how to install Ubuntu server, it's just a matter of following the wizard as any other OS. There are plenty of references on how to install Ubuntu on the web, and videos on YouTube. Do make sure to install an Ubuntu server, and not a desktop (they're different Ubuntu distributions). The relevant documentation is here: Make sure to review the relationship between nodes and DBs, depending on the feature. Using Oracle to read data from SQL Server

10:47
Hi everyone, Andy from Easysoft Limited here, what I want to show you today is how to get data from SQL Server into Oracle. Now for this we will be accessing SQL Server 2014 from Oracle 12 and getting data across. This could be quite easily be any SQL Server version from 2008 and any Oracle version from 11.2, the configuration and process is the same. We can obviously get access to data on SQL Server prior to 2008 and Oracle prior to version 11.2 but it will need a different configuration to what I am going to show you today The plan is also to add more data to the SQL Server table and show this new data back in Oracle. To start off you'll need access to ensure that you have access to your SQL Server and Oracle databases. You'll also need the Easysoft SQL Server ODBC Driver available from www.easysoft.com; just download it, install it and request the free 14 day trial licence. Before we start we need to make some changes to the standard Easysoft config files. cat /etc/odbc.ini Here I have changed Mars Connection to Yes. It must be set to "Yes" if you are connecting to SQL Server 2005 or newer. Easysoft supports all SQL data types from the version of SQL Server from version 7. Oracle supports data types that are common to most ODBC Drivers, but not some of the SQL Server ones. If you intend to access VARCHAR(MAX) for example, then there are some additional settings that need to be set up. Now as I would like to show you VARCHAR(MAX) data moving from SQL Server to Oracle, I have made the relevant change. As you can see, VarMaxAsLong says "Yes" We now need to create a link from Oracles Database Gateway (DG4ODBC) to the ODBC datasource that we already have, this is done in an init(sid) oracle file; let's have a look at our file. cat $ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/initsqlsrv.ora Please note that HS_NLS_NCHAR must be set to UCS2 Oracle assume that most database vendors use UTF-8 for wide characters, however Easysoft, like almost all ODBC Driver vendors (including Oracles own ODBC Driver) uses UCS2 for wide characters. So that's the link between DG4ODBC and the datasource setup correctly. Next we need to set up the Listener entry The Oracle Listener waits for incoming requests from the Oracle database. For the Oracle Listener to listen for requests, information about DG4ODBC must be added to the Oracle Listener configuration file, listener.ora cat $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora The PROGRAM=dg4odbc tells the Listener that we are wanting to use the Oracle database gateway to communicate with ODBC. The ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH tells Oracle what library to load Now that's all set up and OK we need to tell Oracle which server to attach the listener entry to. This is done in tnsnames.ora, and he is the file that we ensured was set up earlier. cat $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora The Oracle Listener now needs to be restarted. lsnrctl stop lsnrctl start OK, that's now started the Listener up again. So we have ensured that all the configuration files are set up correctly. The Listener and tnsnames.ora both set up OK. The final step is to create a link from the Oracle database to the "tnsnames.ora" entry. CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK ODBC CONNECT TO "test" IDENTIFIED BY "test" USING 'sqlsrv_ptr'; Right, that's all done. Let's access the data in SQL Server now. select * from [email protected]; Where 'demo' is the name of the SQL Server table and 'odbc' is the public database link name. OK, there we have the data. So to recap, I'm in Oracle and we have managed to read the data from SQL Server. Let's just add an additional row in that SQL Server table and retrieve the new data in Oracle. quit; /usr/local/easysoft/unixODBC/bin/isql.sh -v sqlsrv insert into demo values (2,'Easysoft') select * from demo select * from [email protected]; And there is the new data. Easysoft Limited can help you with your data access ... for our full range of ODBC and JDBC Drivers, Bridges and Gateways visit easysoft.com Be sure to let us know if you have any comments or questions. Until next time, thanks again and we'll see you again soon.

Learn more: http://bit.ly/Serv_U Serv-U presents a two-minute FTP server demo video, featuring Serv-U MFT from SolarWinds®. This video will briefly show the FTP, SFTP, web transfer, mobile document viewing and administrative interfaces in action. Connect with SolarWinds: THWACK Community: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SolarWinds Twitter: https://twitter.com/solarwinds LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/company/solarwinds TRANSCRIPT Serv-U® MFT Server from SolarWinds® makes it easy to share files, exchange files, and access files from anywhere. Serv-U allows you to use the software you already have by supporting the five most common file transfer protocols: FTP, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP and HTTPS. This means that FTP clients such as FTP Voyager®, FTP scripts, desktops, servers, smart phones, and tablets can all securely connect with Serv-U without having to install additional software. The Serv-U Web client lets you upload, download, and edit files from any desktop web browser. Optional plug-ins allow you transfer multiple files, very large files, or drag-and-drop files with local file systems. On the Serv-U mobile interface, you can view documents from popular devices such as iPads®, iPhones®, and Android® smartphones. The Serv-U management console is accessible from any Web browser or iPad. A tree control on the left keeps system and domain settings separate, and provides quick access to user management options, monitors, and settings. Serv-U access controls are built on folder permissions set at the system, domain, group, or user level. Additional IP, lockout, bandwidth, time of day, quota, password and many other controls can also be applied. As an option, you can connect existing Active Directory® and NAS infrastructure to Serv-U for integrated authentication and storage services. This allows you to grant access to employees and contractors without setting up any new accounts, even as you continue to manage external partners' accounts on Serv-U. Serv-U runs as a Windows® service or Linux® Daemon for 24/7 operation. It can be clustered for high availability and monitored remotely using Windows Event Logs or SolarWinds Log & Event Manager. To address PCI concerns about data at rest in the DMZ, Serv-U also offers a Gateway module that terminates incoming connections while streaming data between the client and server. To start sharing, exchanging, and accessing files from anywhere, download a free 30-day trial at www.serv-u.com today!
