Prayer and Supplication with Thanksgiving
How do we pray for someone who is sick, or going through difficult times? Does scripture teach us to pray as Israel was taught to pray in "times past?" Or "but now," are we taught to pray as members of His church, the Body of Christ? Michael McDaniel gives an example of how to pray in this dispensation of the grace of God. "Lord, we are glad to know that though our outward man perishes, our inward man can be renewed day by day. We are thrilled to know that this ailment (or disease, or illness) is not because you are against us or because you are punishing us. We realize this is the result of the sin-cursed creation we live in, and therefore it is part of the sufferings of this present time. We are counting on your grace as it works in our life to enable us to bear this particular suffering. While we don’t wish for adversities or infirmities, we are thankful for that when those times do come, our inward man can be renewed day by day. We find joy in that our affliction is going to work or produce something both now and out in eternity that is greater and of more value than if this never happened. Thank you for your all sufficient grace that does not work to have us escape these situations but enable us to go through them to your glory and to put something on display to the detriment and chagrin of the Adversary." ("Things put on display is our intelligent understanding of what is going on, why it is going on, what God is and isn’t doing about it. It puts on display the power of his grace that enables us to go through it. It puts on display his wisdom in doing it this way.") This is an excerpt from a bible study by Michael McDaniel... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBmKexrjRUw&list=PLlmYjF7dqItNXZR9FqoLOPJtGusPSjzQZ&index=85

Tozer's forte was his prayer life which often found him walking the aisles of a sanctuary or lying face down on the floor. He noted, "As a man prays, so is he." To him the worship of God was paramount in his life and ministry. "His preaching as well as his writings were but extensions of his prayer life," comments Tozer biographer James L. Snyder. An earlier biographer noted, "He spent more time on his knees than at his desk." Tozer's love for words also pervaded his family life. He quizzed his children on what they read and made up bedtime stories for them. "The thing I remember most about my father," reflects his daughter Rebecca, "was those marvelous stories he would tell." Son Wendell, one of six boys born before the arrival of Rebecca, remembers that, "We all would rather be treated to the lilac switch by our mother than to have a talking-to by our dad." Tozer's final years of ministry were spent at Avenue Road Church in Toronto, Canada. On May 12, 1963, his earthly pursuit of God ended when he died of a heart attack at age 66. In a small cemetery in Akron, Ohio, his tombstone bears this simple epitaph: "A Man of God." Some wonder why Tozer's writings are as fresh today as when he was alive. It is because, as one friend commented, "He left the superficial, the obvious and the trivial for others to toss around. . . . [His] books reach deep into the heart." His humor, written and spoken, has been compared to that of Will Rogers--honest and homespun. Congregations could one moment be swept by gales of laughter and the next sit in a holy hush. For almost 50 years, Tozer walked with God. Even though he is gone, he continues to speak, ministering to those who are eager to experience God. As someone put it, "This man makes you want to know and feel God." -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "A Call to Separation - A. W. All Prayer and Supplication in The Spirit - STS | Pastor 'Tunde Bakare
In this Search the Scriptures teaching Pastor B taught on the primarily Prayer of Petition. The word petition is not just from the Old Testament, it is also a New Testament reality. Every petition that is in line with God's will gets answered. This is what builds supreme confidence in every person who prays according to the will of God [I John 5:14-15]. Stop trying to impress God with the length, loudness or eloquence of your prayers. It is the sincerity of our heart, our confidence before God and the knowledge that we ask according to His will that brings answers.

The Power of Supplication Prayers Teaching
Get An Understanding What Supplication Prayer. In Philippians 4:6, we are told: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” It is humbling yourself crying out to God. Example in the Bible is Hannah. Abraham prayed supplication prayers of petition to the Lord over Israel when God wanted to destroy them. Supplication is commonly defined as: “The action of asking or begging for something earnestly or humbly.” The word supplication comes from a Latin term, supplicare, which means to plead humbly and has the word supple as its root. day 5: desperate prayers (supplication/petition)
The olive branch has been a symbol of surrender and peace since well before Jesus’ time. Starting as early as Noah, some believe the dove returning to the ark with the olive leaf is the first symbol of God’s peace to us (Genesis 8.11). In the book of Hebrews, one of the words to our words supplication or petition literally refers to “an olive branch wrapped with wool, or some kind of cloth, waved by a supplicant seeking peace or surrender.” Some believe this is where the modern symbol of the white flag of surrender comes from. Even ancient Greek translators of the Old Testament often chose this Greek word to translate the Hebrew word for supplication. The sense of peace and surrender in this Greek term is echoed throughout the Psalms. Over and over again the psalmist cries to God to hear “the voice of my supplications” (Psalm 28.2, 28.6, 31.22, 86.6, 116.1, 130.2, 140.6, NASB). The prayer of supplication is almost always used in association with a vocal cry. It is often thought that prayers of supplication/petition are simply prayers asking God for things we want, but the Bible makes it clear that supplication/petition goes much deeper in its meaning. Throughout the Bible, this type of prayer is almost always associated with a sense of a deep cry to God or pleading with Him. It is a desperate plea that comes from a posture of complete surrender. In the book of Hebrews, 5.7 reads: While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. (NLT, https://www.bible.com/bible/116/heb.5.7) Here, Hebrews presents Jesus as our ultimate example of one who prays in a spirit of supplication and petition. Jesus cries loudly with tears in supplication before the Father. The subject of his prayers here is for “rescue from death.” One scholar even suggests that this verse in its context presents the image of Jesus as our High Priest forever pleading for peace on our behalf before the throne of Father. Jesus here is holding the olive branch of peace in our place before God. Your Turn to Pray So as we turn to pray our prayers of supplication/petition today, we must remember to start from that posture of complete surrender. Our supplications/petitions are not simply for the everyday things. Supplication/Petition is about lifting those deep, desperate, inner needs to God that cannot be done without some tears rolling down our cheeks or in loud cries of need. Supplications/Petitions are made with our hearts surrendered in cries of need. Do one or more of the following: Start a prayer journal. On the front page, list your deep desires that disturb your heart. In a posture of surrender, lift them to God. Do this regularly. Listen to the song “White Flag” sung by Chris Tomlin and with your requests in mind you it as your cry to God. Praying Always With All Perseverance and Supplication For All Saints
Ephesians 6: 18-20 Pray Continually 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6: 10-17 The Full Armor of God 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

The Prophet’s Prayers and Supplications 1
[#prayer | #islam | #muslimprayers] In this session we'll cover the Prophet's Prayers and Supplications. The Messenger always prayed to God before any action. The books of tradition, a hadith record no case in which he did not pray. As mentioned earlier, prayer is a mystery of seven truth to God. And the Messenger is the foremost in servanthood. This is made clear with every reputation of declaration of faith, “Arabic”. “I bear witness there is no god but God, Allah, I also bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and his Messenger. Note that He is called Servant before Messenger. “Abduhu” then “ve Rasuluhu”. Indeed whenever Quran mentions Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), He is mentioned with the title of servanthood first. “Abduhu” then “Rasuluhu”. Whatever He intended to do, He refer it to God through prayer. The Messenger's knowledge of God can never be equaled, as a result He was the foremost in love of and paradoxically in fear of Him. He was perfectly conscious that everything depends on God for its existence and subsistence. Whatever God wills, it happens. When He wills a thing, His command is to say to it “Be” and it is. This is cited from the Quran. Things exist and the universe oppress according to the laws established by God and the fulfillment of prerequisites. Fully aware of these, the Messenger did what he had to and then combining action with prayer, left the result to God with absolute confidence. His supplications have been transmitted to us. When we read them, usually those traditions are collected by scholars, and named as Kitab'ul Azhkar, the Book of Supplications or Dua. We see that they have deep meaning, and a code exactly with its surrounding circumstances. They reflect profound belief, deep sincerity, absolute submission, and complete confidence. Some examples are given below. When you go to bed, perform wudu as you do before daily prayers, and pray “O God, hoping for your mercy and fearing your wrath, and submit myself to you, refer my affairs to you. And I take refuge in you. There is no refuge or source of safety from your wrath except you. I believe in the Book you sent down and the Prophet you raised”. Without sins, a soul is like a polished mirror or a white cloth. Since dirty the soul and can be expunged only by repentance, and asking His forgiveness. The Prophet used to pray the following even though He was sinless. Because every prophet is infallible. One of the prophetic attribute is “ismah” meaning prophets, they are innocent, they do not commit any sin. They are the best role model for all humanity and Prophet Muhammad is the Best of the best. He never committed any sin but still He supplicated Allah for sins even though He never commit any sins. “O God, “Arabic”, O God, between me and errors a distance as great as that which you have put between east and west. O God, cleanse Me of my errors as a white garment is cleansed of dirt.” A whole volume could be written about the meaningful words used and the compressions made here. In addition to these supplications, for specific cases, the Prophet also left behind comprehensive supplications of various lengths. We present some of them here. “God, I ask you for all good including what's at hand and what's deferred, what I've already known and what I don't know. I take refuge in you from every evil including what's at hand and what's deferred and what I already know and what I don't know. God I seek refuge in you from all knowledge that gives no benefit, from a heart that does not fear you, from an unsatisfied soul and from prayer that cannot be answered. God, help me remember and mention You, thank You and worship You most perfectly. God I ask you for guidance, fear of you, chastity and independence of others”. These are the some selections from His dua, supplications. Prayer was a fundamental part of the Prophet's life. All the supplications quoted together with many have become keys in the hands of such great saints as Abu Hasan el Shazeli, Ahmad el Badawi, Ahmad el Rifai, Abdulkadir el Geylani who used them to knock on the door of God's mercy. We know dua is essence of ibadah, worship, and a person who makes supplication, he knows that there is One who can hear, who can answer, who can fulfill the wishes of His servants. So dua simply representing your servanthood to God and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), He made dua at the utmost level. He is the best example of in every case including dua.
