I used the same test but it didn't work for me.  The value returned was equal to the number of characters inserted when I used char or vchar.  I'm using SQL Server Studio.  Does this matter?

Yes Michael, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle are much different from each other, the database I used for this video is Oracle 11g.

varchar datatype does not exist as of now :) !!! Varchar2 datatype is ANSI standard defined, and it seems oracle has kept varchar reserved and may or may not introduce it in future!!!
